Would opening up employer health insurance enrollment to friends/family of employees reduce uninsurance

the form we get reporting our wages for the year (W2) has included the cost of health insurance since around 2010 or so

I didn’t realize it was this recent, since it’s been there the entire time I’ve been doing taxes. It’s reported on Box 12, Code DD.
