Would / Should bunnies eat mushrooms?

My wife has two bunnies. They’re well fed with the best food and have a very large home to play in. They get regularly provided with fresh Basil, Mint and Parsley after we tried various herbs and found they liked those the best.

But would they eat mushrooms? Regular button mushrooms or even left over portabelllo mushrooms.

If they like them is there any reason why they shouldn’t ?

I’m only thinking about this because I bought a box of mushroom which were going to go off before we had a chance to eat them ourselves and I would have happily given them to the fluffy bundles of evil in the garden if they would have liked them.

I’m not sure. I have wild rabbits in my back yard that I see eating the lawn. I also have wild mushrooms that pop up after it rains in the yard. The rabbits never touch them.

Rabbits have been known to eat wild mushrooms, but a VERY comprehensive list about what to feed house rabbits does NOT inlcude mushrooms. PDF here, so I’d err on the side of caution.

ETA: Frighteningly, when I Googled “rabbit” and “mushroom” I mostly got recipes.

And now…
