The only thing that SORT of sucks is that on football nights people park in our neighborhood (they are too good for the parking lots I guess?) Last night, they parked on BOTH sides of the street. I’ve never seen that happen. I called the cops.

I’m not trying to bust on you here, because that would annoy me too, but aren’t most residential streets open to public parking? Could/did the cops do anything?

Our street is a 2 lane street with no easement on either side for street parking. If you park on one side and put your tires on someone’s lawn, there’s now a 1.5 lane street. If you park on both sides, it becomes a very narrow 1 lane street with traffic going two ways (it’s the only road into the neighborhood).

So now we’ve got a one lane street with two way traffic, the sun directly in the face of people driving in, pedestrians walking all over and neighborhood kids playing football in all of the adjacent yards. After the game it was darkness and pedestrians. If an ambulance or fire truck needed to get down that street, there would have been an awful lot of missing mirrors and scratched paint.

Two cop cars did roll through. I think they tried to direct people to park on other side streets, and may have ticketed people I dunno. Towing would have been a mess.

Hopefully next game they put a cop on our street and direct people not to be idiots. From what I could tell I think one confused teen started the trend and several other confused teens followed.

Some residential areas forbid parking on both sides of the street due to narrow streets.

Yeah but there are usually signs specifically which side of the street has no parking allowed, rather than a vague “you can park on either side but not both!”

I once had a temporary issue with my work parking permit and parked on a nearby residential street (not even directly in front of a house) and got a nasty note on my windshield.
