“DISCLAIMER: AtAT is not a news site any more than “Inside Edition” is a “real” news show. We make “Dawson’s Creek” look like “60 Minutes.” We engage in rampant guesswork, wild speculation, and pure fabrication for the entertainment of our viewers. Sure, everything here is “inspired by actual events,” but so was “Amityville II: The Possession.” So lighten up.”
It’s a freakin SATIRE page, so lighten up. They satirize Jobs too.
Ballmer has to come out and act like an ape to get the crowd going. Andy Grove has to appear onstage with the Blue Man Group beating on his Jello-encased head to get the crowd going (yes, this really happened). Jobs merely has to step onstage and say “Hello” to get the same response. Perhaps if Gates and Grove produced innovative products like Apple does, they wouldn’t have to humiliate themselves in front of an audience to get people’s attention.
If I may be allowed a single rebuttal (I WILL drop the issue after this): I only respond as such when I see posts such as Mr. E’s go unchallenged. Correct me if you will, but I see the tone of my response as matching the tone of his.
To answer the OP: No, I wouldn’t buy an operating system from that man. I definitely wouldn’t buy an operating system from people who actually cheered someone doing that wacky monkey dance.
As for the As The Apple Turns web site, they’re freakin’ hilarious, and regular readers (of which I am one) know they satarize everything and everyone equally. Just check the archives and see how often they refer to Steve Jobs as an alien from another planet, for example.
Finally, I should say that us non-Windows-using folks ought to be more forgiving of extraordinarily prickly Windows users. After all, if your computer system was under attack by viruses and worms and 733T h4xx0r kiddies 24/7/365, you’d be a bit miffed too. It’s so hard to fix security problems in Windows while Steve Ballmer is doing his wacky monkey dance, I suppose…
