Why would anyone take this as a mac person slamming a pc person with your pro-Microsoft opening I wonder?
BTW drewbert, I believe Bill H. posed a legitimate question. Your response was dismissive, but I wonder the same thing. Why are some apple people filled with so much hate and loathing towards MS people?
Sure his antics were goofy looking, but I’ve seen a lot of things like that at pep rallies.
You missed out on the REALLY scary thing about the video. The crowd is hooting and hollering and applauding, they LOVED his performance. Now THAT is REALLY scary. But it does explain much about Microsoft fanatics.
For the likes of people like Drewbert and Chas.E, I present this thread.
Say it with me, people… IT’S A PEP RALLY! I’m sure the glare from your shiny lil’ iMacs prevented that notion from entering your brain, so it’s forgiven. Here’s another surprising revelation… PEP RALLIES RELY ON LOTS OF ENERGY! Were you expecting “Tea Time with Mr. Ballmer”?
Sheesh. You wanna talk about Microsoft fanatics, Chas, take a look at anti-Microsoft fanatics who can’t even grasp the blatantly and painfully obvious.
Hmm. I’m not particular anti-MS in any way and I’m not pro-mac in any way either… I just thought the clip was funny as hell…
I guess you americans are used to people acting like that… Overhere (Denmark) pep rallies just aren’t such a common thing so watching a CEO act like that is just quite bizarre to me… Funny never the less!
Here’s a question to Drew and/or Mr. E… have you seen tapings of that entire rally? Or are you just going to take this three-minute segment, without any context, and just swallow whatever line your anti-Microsoft site-of-the-day tells ya?
SPOOFE, I think it’s about time I told you this. Would you do me a favour, and DON’T come into the next Microsoft-related thread with guns a-blazing? It’s getting old.
All I see is someone who posts a link to a funny video (which I can’t currently watch, FYI). This is MPSIMS. It’s not a debate about whichever operating system is better, and it certainly isn’t a pit thread in which you can attack whomever it is that disagrees with you.
In this forum, fun shall be had, and mild humourous jabs (look at kferr, for example - THAT was funny) are fine. Your continuous and rather annoying crusade to shield Microsoft from all criticism isn’t fine, especially in this forum, and especially the way you choose your words.
Since we’re generalizing about Mac users, may I generalize too? Are Windows users so sensitive they can’t take a bit of good-natured humor? Would it have made a difference if I hadn’t posted the first link and instead written my own short synopsis, thereby concealing my computer platform of choice? If so, my apologies. I really wasn’t expecting this sort of discussion.
If you checked out the rest of the firt site I linked to (I’m sure you probably won’t,) you’d see that it’s not a Windows-bashing site. There are plenty of those out there, but this one is a Mac news and commentary site. There’s a difference. And when Steve Jobs does something weird or bizarre, you can bet it will be written about on that site, too.
No, I’ve never been to a corporate pep rally. I work at a planetarium. We cheer ourselves up by going bowling.
That was kind of scary. Now I know that at corporate “pep rallies” (didn’t know they were called that, but understand the concept) speakers want to get the crowd hyped. But he was so over the top, I was thinking, “Is he having a nervous breakdown? Is that the punchline: people were so caught up in cheering and hollering that they didn’t realize he wasn’t acting?”
It looked like a temper tantrum, but I guess he’s simply not graceful enough to convey enthusiasm.
Envision this scenario: I post a video of Steve Jobs doing something idiotic. Don’t think it can’t be found; Jobs is just as Barnum-and-Baily as Ballmer. I give this thread the title “Would you buy an OS from this man?” My content for this thread reads “I don’t know what Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been inhaling recently, but I need to make sure I stay far, far away from it.” Now please tell me about all the apple fans who would respond “Ha, ha! Good one Bill. Let’s nominate that for a weird url!” Please.
I did, and that’s where my initial comment came from. Here’s what they said about the video:
