Although I normally am not a big fan of marketing crap like T-shirts and whatnot, I could see myself buying a shirt or a coffee mug or something from the SDMB. I mean, if something decent were offered.
…and, of course, I am ready from the get-go to propose my own version…
I would start with a simple T-shirt; a small SDMB logo in the upper right, with cite? in big bold letters on the front, and in small font on the back (whoosh). Maybe a coffee mug that simply said “The Straight Dope: making mornings at work bearable since 1973”
How about you? Would buy [del]this crap[/del] these signs of love and devotion for the SDMB? Got any good ideas for stuff?
I already have The Official Straight Dope T-shirt, but if a cool SDMB design (not on a white or heather gray shirt) were to be marketed I’d probably buy it.
Nope. I don’t try to hide my identity, but I don’t really want to be stopped at the grocery store by a Doper who wants to know who I am. It’d just feel…awkward.
Likewise, I don’t really want all my IRL friends coming here. It’s one thing if they’re here already and I don’t know it - I don’t post anything I would be sorry to see public. But I like not having to worry about it. Ignorance is occasionally bliss.
But I really like the cite? and (whoosh) design.

I’d definitely buy the cite? shirt. The last thing in the Universe I need is another coffee mug, seeing as how I don’t drink the stuff and students give me a dozen of them every year anyway.
Maybe a baseball cap that says “Uncle Rue’s Daycare Center” on it…
Depends on what it is. I might buy a coffee mug with “cite?” on it; or maybe a mouse pad or something like that. I doubt I’d buy a shirt; I don’t wear shirts that have logos/writing/whatever on it.
I already have a Straight Dope coffee mug. I would definately buy a SDMB mug or mousepad. I wouldn’t buy a regular men’s style t-shirt, because I don’t wear those. I would buy a baby-tee, though, with a SDMB reference on it.
There was an SDMB beefcake/cheesecake calendar in 2004. It was put together before I joined, but I remember hearing about it and have seen a few of the pictures…

I’d love to be able to pick out other Dopers by an SDMB shirt or hat. Maybe a ballcap that says “SDMB”, like “FDNY”, with no embellishment or additional explanation.
Yeah, I think it’d have to be something that’d be obvious to a Doper but wouldn’t give away what it was about and would seem like an otherwise fairly normal T-shirt.
What about a really less than obvious presence, like a small brooch or an emblem somewhere. Something that another member could identify with? I know there could be a million designs, but a shirt or similar with a discreet emblem may work. Like a scorpion.
