Would you live on Gay Street?

I’ve got no problem with Gay Street. And I just had to share that a friend of mine (while I was growing up) lived on Skunk Misery Road.

Not embarrassing in the same way, but I got very very tired of superman jokes when I was in grade school.

You see, I lived on Lois Lane.
Does anyone know of a Della Street?

elmwood will probably figure where I live but…Gay Street is a 3 minute walk from my house.
(suburb of Cleveland)

There is a Felch Street in Warrensville Hts., and the sign is brown.

My aunt and uncle run the Gay Street Inn in Little Washington, VA. Their names are Donna and Robin, so I’m sure someone has thought that they were lesbians. My family calls it “Chez Gay.”

Any street I live on is Gay street…

That’s not far from me! I live on an unfortunately named street – Edsal Drive – but at least this is just a rental house.

Tomorrow, I’ve got to get a picture of the sign for Felch Street.

Homeboy!

As for Felch Street, not only is the sign brown, but there is a yellow sign saying No Outlet right there.
Its as if they knew.
All they need now is a Santorum Circle.
Edsel?
Never heard of it?
Whats it off of?

No problem here with Gay Street or the old fashioned names. I live in old intown neighborhood and the street names are all 40-ish sounding. Part of the charm

Imagine the irony if Felch was long enough to cross the Cuyahoga River and intersect with Nobottom Road, which passes through Berea and Olmsted Falls (western suburbs of Cleveland)…

I suspect that most Dopers, should they find themselves living in Virginia Beach, would happily accept digs on Pleasure House Road.

What about if you moved to Plant City, Florida? Would you buy a home on [Jap Tucker Road](http://207.156.112.36/mpocounts/counts/viewer.htm?ActiveLayer=0&Query=CountStati = ‘340060’&QueryZoom=Yes)?

It’s Edsal, but folks pronounce it “Edsel”. It’s off of Richmond, near Mayfield Road.
I’m heading to Columbus in a while. I might stop in nearby Circleville, just to get a picture of the Hitler Road sign.

I already live on Dyke Street so I’ve got no problem with Gay Street. The dyke that keeps the river from flooding town runs right down my street. :dubious:

The New Jersey towns of Moonachie (that’s MOON-achie) and Little Ferry share “Redneck Avenue.”

I challenge anyone to say “Redneck Avenue in Little Fairy” without cracking up.

Would you live on Gay Street?

Oh, Honey. . .

*:snaps fingers: *

I allll-ready do!

I just wouldn’t eat on Gay Street.

I still cannot believe there was a Butt Hole Road - eeew! Who on earth ever decided that?

Anyway, I would be fine with Gay Street. My family started looking at houses in Tennessee a couple years ago. They found one they liked, but my mom absolutely vetoed it because it was on Taterpeeler Drive.

I suppose I’d live on Gay Street if it came to that. But I’d rather live on Bi Avenue - those streets that only go one way are so inconvenient.

You beat me to posting these! But there’s another one, how’d you like to live on Teton Diablo?

John Doe
9579 Devil’s Teat Road
Las Vegas, NV 89117

Around here there are a few road names that I love.

Runaround Road
Wrong Way Road
Goat Run Honey Fork Road
Walkaway Road

And yes, there’s a Gay Street and my mother is looking at buying a house there.

I always used to wonder whether property prices were adversely affected by potentially embarrassing street names, like **Crotch Crescent ** in Oxford, UK.

I live on Camp St., and that’s pretty gay. When I moved here, my friends thought it was funny and perfect for me. It used to be just me and the dyke next door, but lately we’ve acquired a number of gay/lesbian neighbors.

We have a Pleasant Street that runs off Camp, and up until the past few years it was so run-down and cracked-out that it was generally known as Unpleasant Street. It’s gotten better though.

Across town, there are Peace Street, Plenty Street, Health Street, and Wealth Street, all in a neighborhood where those commodities are in short supply. Makes me wonder if, ninety years ago, things were really good there, or these were just aspirations.

Sure, I’d live on Gay Street – thanks for askin’!

Really? I used to live on Paulina!! I’ve had a lot of “small world” moments on the Dope, but this one might be my favorite. It’s been ages since I’ve been to Chicago, so it’s likely we lived in entirely different parts of the city, but I still got a kick out of seeing the Paulina name!

Back on topic:
I’d probably live on every street mentioned, but the one I just couldn’t bear would be Tobacco Road.

And, no, I’m not some crazy anti-smoking person; it’s just a literary reference that would creep me out.
