No way. Changing lives with someone isn’t the same as changing bank accounts with them (which of course I’d do). I like having my own life, thank you very much.
Yeah, I’d trade.
1. He probably gets lots of attention. Do you like lots of attention?
Not really, but with that much money, there are ways to avoid it.
2. He has been fighting lawsuits for a long time dealing with facebook. Do you like being sued?
Again, he can pay lawyers to take care of this for him. Billionaire, with a B.
3. He is worth billions and most people can recognize him. Can he ever have a friend or significant other that he knows is not in it for the money?
I think you may overestimate how recognizable he is. Even though I’ve seen pictures of him, if I saw him walking down the street this afternoon I wouldn’t look twice.
4. Maybe he has hit his peak, maybe is it all downhill from here.
So what? Billionaire. Game’s over, he won.
5. Interviews are harder than you think.
Don’t have to give any interviews if I don’t want to.
Like others have said, I’d simply cash in all my chips and disappear from the public eye immediately after the trade. I can figure out later what I’ll do with my new life. For now, I’m on an undisclosed tropical island and cannot be reached for comment.
There are a few reasons why it wouldn’t work for me.
My greatest joy in life is travel. And I don’t enjoy luxury travel. I want to be taking local transit, eating meals with families, hanging out with nomads and really experiencing life in other places. If I had that kind of money, I couldn’t ever travel low to the ground like that. It’d be too big of a security risk…a billionaire is a great kidnapping target. I would pretty much be stuck with quality hotels, secure private transport, vetted locations, etc. It’d completely ruin my favorite thing.
Another issue is that I simply do not enjoy attention from strangers. I’ve been in situations where I have received a lot of attention from strangers, and I absolutely hated it. I want to be able to walk into the grocery store in my sweats to buy some cold medicine without anyone on earth caring. And no, it doesn’t help that I can pay someone to walk to the store for me. I want to be a part of the normal real world without calling attention to myself. I don’t want to hide on my estate.
Anyway, I’ve got a great life. I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
Sure I’d want his money and his youth. But not if I have to be him.
