I would, and then I’d top it off with a tall, cool Budweiser.
But seriously, yes.
I would, and then I’d top it off with a tall, cool Budweiser.
But seriously, yes.
I would not trade my life for anyone’s life.
I love my wife and my two daughters and no amount of money, or fame, or power would be worth losing them.
After googling to find out who she is, I’d say no. couldn’t handle the pay cut.
How would the trade work? Would I think I was Rose McGowan? Would I remember I used to be me? Or is it like I certainly decide to take up acting now and my career is as similar to Rose McGowan’s as is possible for a man in his early fourties who never wanted to be an actor …
Do you mean sacrifice myself for her or swap with her? In the former case, hell no. She’s had a very mixed-up life, so in the latter case, again, no.
You remember everything but suddenly you are Rose. Right now.
Now that I think about it, if that means Rose is in my body Im changing my mind.
Lets say you vaguely remember your old life, but you strongly remember hers.
So its not like you’re getting away with dropping into a womans body who has 2 mill in the bank without having to have some psychic scars.
I totally get the question. Rose McGowan is both relatively famous and well off, while also being very important in the Weinstein scandal, meaning she’s been sexually abused a lot. So the question is ultimately asking whether you think the trappings of fame and money would be worth the bad stuff she went through.
I think I’d say yes. I know she’s been through trauma, but so have I. But I think she’s better equipped monetarily to deal with that trauma.
If I’d not had the trauma, I think I’d turn it down, though.
In that case, no thank you. I’ve a pretty good life now. Hell, even if I had a shitty life I couldn’t imagine the scenario where getting Rose McGowan’s life wouldn’t be terrible. Except if you just mean I get a sudden 2 mill in the bank. I could live with that.
She was raised in an incest cult, in which her father ran a chapter, nevermind all the Hollywood raping. That’s not a pool I’d want to dive into.
And she got smashed up in an auto wreck a few years ago, which permanently altered her features.
I’d probably retire to my bedroom for a few weeks.
…lets be honest here. You aren’t being serious. Because you wouldn’t want this. Rose has pretty fairly chronicled her life and it hasn’t been pleasant. You don’t really want to get raped, forced into silence, stalked by ex-Mossad agents then have to sell your home in anticipation of legal action. You don’t want that. Nobody wants that.
What a nasty thread.
Maybe he’s not being serious, but your saying ‘nobody’ wants that is quite the exaggeration. Some people may well be willing to have had that kind of trauma in exchange for being her, for a variety of reasons. Maybe they would regret it, maybe not, but there are undoubtedly many people who would honestly want that if offered.
Then there’s also people who would want it out of ignorance. People who, having never experienced significant trauma in their lives, think that what they hear is no big deal and they wouldn’t care much, especially since it’s in the past and they’ll do what they want from now on, which includes in their point of view, an ability to prevent any such thing from ever happening again. Most of them would regret it, but at the time they are offered the choice, they would honestly want it.
And keep in mind that different people react to traumatic situations in different ways. Those people who think it’d be no big deal? Most of them are wrong, and would greatly regret it if they suddenly had a life with those experiences in it. A small number of them are right, however, because to them, it really might not be a big deal at all. Some people are raped or have other really, really horrible things happen to them, and once the situation is over and they’re safe…they don’t think about it much anymore and it simply doesn’t affect them. They are probably in a very small minority of the population, but they most definitely exist and are real.
Someone who has a similar enough life experience to be confident that they would be relatively unaffected might well be making a very good choice if they could make the choice in question. And someone who has had what they consider to be a worse life experience may well jump at the chance; at least McGowan has made out financially well, and she’s not that old. She has a reasonably long, potentially fulfilling life ahead of her, even if she had a considerable amount of trauma up to this point.
…I don’t think I’m exaggerating at all.
Do you think that the OP chose Rose McGowan by accident? Out of all the people in the world with “money in the bank” he just happened to pick Rose?
This thread is a joke at her expense. One could make an argument that we could have a “reasonable discussion” about trauma, about rape, about consequences, and what you would and wouldn’t be willing to do. But a “joke thread” about a woman who is being gaslighted and is currently having to sell her home to cover legal bills really isn’t the right place to have it.
You could have let us all know, and save us the trouble of googling.
Yes, definitely. Ms McGowan has some some horrible memories, but going forward she’s rich and quite well respected.
No way in hell. Money is nothing compared to happiness and I value the happiness I’ve had more than any happiness or money I can imagine someone else having. I also don’t particularly want to be a woman, or famous, or have anything to do with any side of sexual abuse / assault.
I’d do it, just for the machine gun leg.
I’d need Jennifer Lawrence level money and fame before I’d accept Rose McGowan’s life.
I haven’t been following Rose McGowan’s life story, and besides knowing she was on some TV shows and teen movies (Charmed? Scream?) the only other thing I knew about her was she was the first to speak up about HW.
However, last night (on 2/1) she was on The Daily Show. If I hadn’t seen who she was, or had read the postings in this thread, I would have been baffled about the person Trevor was interviewing. The interview was meandering and a bit scary. It look to me like a drunk Judy Garland interview (or was it Liza Minnelli?), where you can see she some deep issues.
She was on the Colbert Show the previous day, and it was apparently the same rambling type of interview.
After watching these interviews, in no way would anyone want to have her life.
