see the perfectly pitch black sky with thousands of stars? Because of no atmosphere to reflect back the light. Bonus … no atmosphere to distort

To be clear about this; since odds are against you landing in the places on the moon that are temporarily visible to libration; you would therefore never see an Earthrise/Earthset. Unless you had a moon buggy, drove, and artificially created one.

I’d go, but I wouldn’t be first in line. I’d wait until it was no longer in NASA control, we all know about their track record and unlike many other posters I would like to make it back to Earth ALIVE. I’d wait until there were at least two major Earth to Moon and back travel companies set up, competition is always a good thing. I’d wait until it’s almost as safe to go to the Moon as to fly across the nation. Then I would go. But I’m not “dieing” to get there.
