That’s basically what they do. The server first achievement for Goblins and Worgen are called Realm First Lost Isles/Gilnean Goblin/Worgen and you can only get it by completing the Lost Isles/Gilneas quest chain which is only available to Goblins and Worgen “born” at Lost Isles/Gilneas, much like only Death Knights can complete the Death Knight starter quest chain.
So if you already have a 310% mount, will all your other mounts automatically become 310% also without having to pay? My priest with the violet proto-drake but only 200g wants to know.
It’s my understanding that all mounts will now work exactly like the sparklepony does now–they will scale to the maximum possible rank of movement for that zone and your level of riding training.
So all flyers–150%, 280%, and 310%–will function as 310% in a flyable area as long as you have at least one 310% mount or pay for the training. Likewise, you can now summon flying mounts in non-flying zones, where they function as 100% ground mounts. Presumably, any 60% ground mounts you summon will also scale up to 100% if you have that training.
Yes, and I’m not sure I like this. I’ve only tried one of the instances so far, but in Twilight Caverns you can actually mount up. Which can get really annoying when everybody in the party decides they just *have *to go galloping back to the spot where they wiped while riding their protodrakes.
I’ve heard that you can’t even enter the Cata zones until you’re 80–is that correct? Seems to me that that’s going to cause a hell of a lot of headaches for people who’re trying to level their professions.
I’m not sure there would be any other way to do it that wouldn’t involve massive amounts of recoding, though, versus converting all the other mounts over to existing speed scaling models.
I like that, it means I can include all my non-epic ground mounts in my “random mount” button. Although if you can summon flying mounts anywhere, I wonder how much use my ground mounts will get.
No one has mentioned it yet, but am I right that we can fly in the new zones right away? Or do we need to buy “Azeroth flying” to fly in the new zones?
So, I made it into the PTR, which was a trial and a half, but whaddya expect, it’s a test realm, yeah? I transferred over my destruction warlock, which is my only 80.
Oh. My. God. I love the imp now. Before, it was basically useless; I didn’t even much worry about it dying during a fight, since it contributed to so little to DPS, but now it’s absolutely essential. I really like that; I’ve always had a soft spot for my imp (which is named Zeppad, and is called “Zep” or “Zeppy.”)
I also like getting to use Soul Fire again. I hadn’t used it since about level 50 or so, when I was questing with my friend who was leveling up a hunter. I hate it when spells are made completely unviable.
Update about the worgen/goblin Death Knight. You can play one. If Worgen, you’re one of Arugal’s crazy minions, kileld and grabbed and resurrected as a DK. Not sure about goblins, but they’re easy to justify since there are always some goblins here and there about the world. In the case of the Worgen, though, your character is from Gilneas, just stuck outside the wall, perhaps before it closed forever due to that selfsame curse.
Not sure if they’ll be eligable for realm firsts on levelling to 80 or 85 for that race. I mean, if you can do that there’s no way anyone else could possibly get there.
I’ve had to uninstall the beta, for the second time it was crashing any time I tried to enter the game. The previous time, fixing that required a full reinstall: sorry, that takes too long, at least with my fastabulous link.
So long as that doesn’t happen with the game itself we’re fine, but damnit…
