wow elvis did some great covers i didnt know even existed ......

I fell down a rabbit hole as i was watching MTV classic and during the 80s hour or two I seen a cover of suspicious minds and had to look up on youtube to see who sang it (it was fine young cannibals) which led me to a film version of Elvis singing it in a vegas concert (it was before he was tired so he still was having fun with the audience and the band)

But the list on the side produced the usual songs but one stuck out a cover of “bridge over troubled waters” which he was great at

did you know he sang a cover of tears of heaven? and I think its better than Clapton’s version?

And i know who Neil Tennant was channeling when he sang “always on my mind” (someone needs to mix that one day …)

Although his attempt at my way was well ok-ish still that would have been some cool concerts/videos if hed sang them with the original singers.
anyone know of more i should check out?

“Tears in Heaven” was written in 1991. Is there something you know about the King that you’d like to share with us?

so this is a fake ?

The video description literally states that it’s by an impersonator named Doug Church.

Not at all. That really is a cover of Eric Clapton sung by one of the best Elvis impersonators, Doug Church.

Or such is my conclusion based on my rough translation of the description of the video:

“cantando é um dos melhores impersonaters de Elvis… o ingles Doug Church”

What is that, Portuguese?

…and I got spanked while trying to figure out what the language was! grrrrr

Mmmmmmm, kinky! :o

Yes, it’s Portuguese.

Youtube is also full of “Elvis” singing Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
At first I was like WHAT! That can’t be! The ones I listened to sounded pretty bad and ofcourse a quick look verified the song as a Queen original. Made me look though.
Great if an Elvis impersonator wants to cover a more modern song as long as it is clear who they are and credit goes to where it belongs, but random Youtuber hoaxers are a scourge who need their accounts erased from the system.

Also, this is Elvis Aaron Presley, not the Costello one.

Reminds me of the “original” recording of Oops, I Did It Again by Louis Armstrong.

It was actually recorded by an Armstrong impersonator named Shek Baker.

Elvis impersonators aside, the real Elvis did a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Tomorrow Is A Long Time” which Dylan was especially proud of.

I’ve always loved “Snowbird”, and thought that it could never work without Ann Murray’s angelic soprano. But Elvis’s version proved me wrong.
