I never heard of this show, but I see Seth Green is in it, who was good in “Greg The Bunny” and other things, so I gave it a shot.
Wow, it’s bad. Can’t say it’s the worst I’ve ever seen, because there’s a huge glut of terrible shows at the bottom of the rung, all sharing that honor. This is one of those shows.
Attention, Television Producers: adding a laugh track to your sitcom is merely telling us that you know that your show sucks! If the audience doesn’t already know when to laugh, you’re not going to convince them with canned recordings of OTHER people laughing!
I’ve been planning to Tivo it once I get my Tivo hooked up. (Little technical problem there.:p) I was really excited because I think Seth Green is terribly cute. Too bad its doesn’t sound good. Laugh tracks bite ass. They are a negative addition to any show.
HOW – after taking a chance (sitcom-wise) on Earl and The Office and succeeding – does another show get made about 4 good looking New Yorkers with a great apartment?
I watched the first week, and blah blah blah. Completely interchangeable characters, seen it all before. The guy who owns the apartment is annoying and a little disturbing to look at. Seth Green looks like he’s 11, which is creepy.
I didn’t watch one second of it last night. If it turns out to be a great show, and I’m late to the party, then so be it. But, for now, the tube stays off until 9:00.
People still use Laugh Tracks? Well, seeing how I have not watched a live action sitcom for years, i would have assume that “Laugh Tracks” were a thing of the past.
There’s a reason it’s on in January. The networks probably paid for the shows, got low test audience feedback, and are trying to burn off their commitment, in the off chance the show IS a hit, in which case they can bring it back in the fall.
One of the exceptions, of course, is 24, which I think starts its run in January because they don’t air re-runs.
Have there been any breakout hits that premiered in January?
I watched the first episode… it was pretty much rehashing old sitcom jokes. Especially the “breakup” between the guy and his personal trainer. That joke has been done way too many times. I remember actually having one real laugh at some other point during the show, but it wasn’t enough to make me watch it again. I didn’t bother watching this week.
I’ve only seen the first episode, but I think it has potential. I like that they regularly pick up Seth Green’s character- he’s so portable- and pay him to climb into the washing machine. That being said, it’s got two more episodes to prove itself.
When NBC first started shilling this, they make a big point of saying it was from the producers of “Will & Grace”. Other than having Pauly Shore in it, I cannot think of anything that would make me avoid it faster. I sympathie with those of you that have actually seen some of it.
