Wow, that's a great cover of that song

I think I’ve probably been aware of this cover for some time, but it bubbled back up into my consciousness recently. Cum On Feel The Noize was quite the international hit for the British band Slade back in 1973 (50 years ago - oops!). Not so much in the US, where it made #98. There was a US cover by Quiet Riot and yeah, I did give it a listen, not impressed. Slade vocalist Noddy Holder’s voice was extraordinary - as much shrieking as singing; and it kind of makes sense that if a cover is going to work it needs another extraordinary voice to carry it. So how about Liam Gallagher?

The Oasis cover:

The original for reference:

PS: the chatter at the end of the Oasis version is, at least in part, the band taking the piss out of Holder’s Brummie accent. Gudbuy T’Jane was another Slade single.

Here’s Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner” covered by AnnenMayKantereit.

Alien Ant Farm: Smooth Criminal. Great video, too.

This thread seems as good a place as any to post this rendition of
the 3rd movement of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata by the 8-Bit Big Band !

Of course, it can also be played solo.

Ah, you can’t see those posts without wondering, What instrument would I most like to hear it played on?

I flirted with theremin - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1rUruHqajs/

But in the end I went with harmonica.

As the soloist says:

Hi, I invite you to listen to the 1st version in the history of the harmonica of Ludwig Van Beethoven masterpiece: moonlight Sonata Op.27 Nro 2 1st. mov, played in chromatic harmonica solo.

You gotta like that confidence.

I’m loving all the Moonlight Sonata versions!

Jerry Reed wrote a catchy little tune called 'Baby’s Coming Home made popular by Chet Atkins. But I find I like this version the best - fun lil video too.

I know there are about a trillion Beatles covers out there but this one stands out. This kid has some pipes:

Here’s something I just discovered, and I really like it:

Starting point - here’s the original from 1974:

Nick Lowe singing, of course. And here’s an acoustic studio version by Nick from (sometime around) 1996:

Sweet. Didn’t even know this existed until Spotify took a wrong turn on me.

PS: I’ll just page @EinsteinsHund, who had a thread about the song a little while back.

The Staves, “I’m on Fire.” (https://youtube.com/watch?v=5LVW95Mxv6k&si=y3OWL2uv4IO0KPFH)

I very much prefer Joss Stone’s Fell In Love with a Boy to the White Stripes’ original Fell In Love with a Girl .

Welcome to the boards, @Johnhennry !

I know little about any of the parties or music involved, but it sounded “fine” to my untrained ears and an interesting exercise in crossing genres.

I also learned that there’s cursing in country too.

Oh, and someone previously in the thread was looking for this.

I really like Shawn Colvin’s dreamy version of Viva Las Vegas that played over the closing credits of The Big Lebowski.

Seeing her backyard sessions version of that inspired me to learn to play it.

Not sure this qualifies as a cover, but it’s an old poem set to music so, I guess…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvI0G6xXnKI

John Denver’s cover of the Beatles’s, “Mother Nature’s Son,” is perfect for what Denver was doing. Do not care for the horns in the Beatles’s version.

This startling cover of a Ukrainian pop song (good luck finding the original) won the 2018(?) Voice Kids Ukraine. The video has the lyrics translated, because it was not only a contrarian choice for a finalist, but also a prescient one by a then 10-year-old (her coach actually tried to get her to choose a more mainstream crowd pleaser as she prepared, but she held her ground)

Resolved: Heart is the greatest Led Zeppelin cover band.
