Today I learned that children who are hugged and playfully touched are less likely to be violent than kids that are not. In a cross cultural study, a loack of affectionate touching is linked to violence, particularly in boys. American boys are aggressive 29% of the time compared to their European counterparts. France and other high-touch societies have low rates of adult violence. The US, OTOH, has the highest homicide rate of any developed nation.
