wow.

over at highend3d.com, this question was asked:

“can anyone answer why 1280x1024 fits a 640x480 aspect ratio, but 1280x960 doesn’t?”

i hope he is kidding.

There are high school graduates who cannot properly take a measurement with a ruler if they are told to start from a point other than 0 on the ruler. I kid you not. :frowning:

But what he’s asking makes sense, even if he doesn’t grasp the concept of computer monitor resolution. I don’t think you should be singling him out as being foolish just because his logic doesn’t correlate with the facts.

640x480 exactly doubled is 1280x960. It’s logical to assume that that is what should be the measurement used for high resolution. However, it is instead set as 1280x1024, which is of course a different aspect ratio to low res.

It’s a good question to ask, he just needs straightening out on the facts.

I know a lot of junior high kids around here that could fix the Quote bug in this board before lunch, plus convert your ratios to all displayable permutations.

They do tend to show off, but that’s what youth is for.

I’d just like to say that I have almost no idea what any of you are talking about.

I’m going to go eat some hay now.

yes, you are right.

hmm… i just figured someone at highend3d.com wouldn’t ask such a question.
