Wrinkled fingers on one hand?

First off, you are not my doctor and I will be calling my doctor tomorrow morning. In the meantime I’m looking for possible causes of these symptoms.

On my drive home from work this evening, the fingers on my right hand felt very slightly numb, nothing dramatic. However, when I looked at my hand, my fingertips were wrinkled as if they had been submerged in water for a while. After 10 minutes or so, they returned to normal.

I’m not finding anything by googling, so I’m looking for information from medical types.

Thanks!

Drink more water.

You have them exposed to something like brake fluid, solvent or what not?
Have them in a death grip on the steering wheel?

I’ve had that all my life, sometimes accompanied by reddish fingertips; my aunt has it to a greater degree. She’s got a diagnosis of Raynaud’s syndrome. If it’s that it’s one of those things which are “yep, you have a thing with a name but it’s not serious at all”. Treatment involves hand exercises similar to what you’d do if your hands had fallen asleep (open and close your fists, things like that).

Dehydration isn’t the issue, I drink lots and lots of water, and why would it be confined to only one hand?

No exposure to chemicals, either.

Nava, I think you might be on to something. Quick googling of Reynauds’s shows it can be triggered by exposure to cold, and it was sub-zero Fahrenheit temperatures here yesterday. It seems odd because I used to have the opposite reaction to cold, known as the ‘hunter’s response’ where my hands would flush and get really warm, especially when exposed to cold water.
