I always here weird noises just as I’m falling asleep; I never know if I’m imagining them or not. Somehow they always border between human and canine or human and automotive.
I once experienced auditory hallucinations; I had taken mushrooms for the first time and was hanging out at a friend’s dorm. He had to go to bed, finally, so I went back to my own room and went to bed as well. As I was lying there, I kept hearing little plinks and other strange sounds, very faintly. Every few minutes the sound would change. On the one hand, I knew that the sounds weren’t real, but on the other hand, I also knew that I was listening to the atoms in my brain.
Are you sure it wasn’t the SDMB Initiation Goat™? Ol’ Bertha has to get pretty licquored up to partake in the ritual and the after affects are not pretty.
Had a(n) (o)possum in the garage once. Critter kept running around but wouldn’t leave through the open doors, but we couldn’t just leave it alone 'cause the cat comes and goes and whatnot. Anyway, someone’s bright idea was to grab a broom and sort of sweep him out from under the cabinents he was under.
I will never approach a possum again.
Damn thing attacked like the rabbit from the “Holy Grail”. And it didn’t…“fear”…me the way animals should fear humans. You know…you approach and they watch you, sensing danger? Not this guy. He just looked straight at me like he was waiting for me to bring it. And then when I brought it, he set it on the floor and opened it up and tried to cram it back down my throat.
Anyway.
I hope the noise wasn’t the Initiation Goat. Poor thing is on it’s last legs with all new members.
