If there was anywhere I thought I could count on to leave for a few years and come back and it would be exactly the same, it’s the Dope. Now I can do this
? Insanity!!
Are you sure you’re ready for all this? Why don’t you take a couple more years to think about it, and come back again. We don’t want you to get hurt.

I know. This adaptation’s something else that’s going to “take longer than I thought”…
Yep it runs great, and as a bonus it’s less pleasing to the eye.
And the website for the movie Space Jam.
I’ve been warming to it slowly. I still can’t quote worth a damn. But I figured out how to be a traffic cone, which isn’t bad.
Those were the days!
I’m still slowly getting used to it myself. I’m not complaining because it’s what we have. But the learning curve has been longer than expected. That’s partially due to me cutting way back on my screen time.
OK, I actually like the quoting better now. All you do is highlight what you want to quote, and a little gray quote button shows up. Press that, and it will show up in your reply box. If you want to multi-quote, just do it again and again. It makes it super-easy to multi-quote sections of each post, or even sections of the same post for multiple answers. In the old system, I had to be really careful about putting in the QUOTE and /QUOTE tags if I wanted to break up a post to answer it in sections.
And if you want to quote the post immediately prior to yours (like I just did), highlight the text and click on gray “quote” box that appears, BUT you have to break one of the cardinal rules of The Old Dope, which is to change something in the quoted paragraph. What I do (and did) was put a dash at the very end after the period. Otherwise the software will not let you quote the post immediately prior-- it will delete it and you will wonder WTF happened. One tiny alteration in the quote, and it will stay.
Or, you can leave out the final period and avoid running afoul of the SDMB rules.
But that’s still a change.
The new board has made anarchists of us all!
They say you can never go home again.
Welcome home!
If you’d been here the whole time, this might not have happened.
