WTF happened to my Cartoon Network?

OK, I’m out of town, visiting my mom in California. One of the nice things about my mom’s house is that she has cable TV. I wanted to watch Futurama and Family Guy tonight, and I can hear them OK, but what I see is this still photo (closer).

It’s just four slacker-type guys standing around. They look like they could be in a band. The one on the left has a black shirt with a picture and the letters “EVIL D” (Evil Dead?) visible at the bottom, and the one next to him has a red shirt with a white logo and circular writing that could say “the cat of kids” or “the get up ride” or something. That picture has been there for at least three hours now.

Damnit, I don’t need any punk-ass TV hackers messing with my cartoons. Get your ugly mugs off my screen and go back to nailing groupies!

Uhhh, maybe the video in cable is plugged into your mom’s digital camera or something like that. Check the wiring.

Oh shit, that was so handy-like. We view images from my camera on the television occasionally, so that’s what popped into my mind.

Fixed links.

Yeah, the RCA video jack may have been plugged into a digital camera or something. Happens to me all the time. I’ll sit down to watch TV and can only here the sound and see a blank screen because my son left his game cube plugged into the video jack.

Except for one problem. Here in Colorado, I’ve got the same pictue on Cartoon Network. And, trust me, there’s no camera plugged into the TV.

I can’t say with some 10 inches or more of snow in the last five days our dish is NOT recieving a signal.

Which means NO Dexter’s Laboratory! YAY!

Mr2001 if it wasn’t so far I’d say run down here and you could watch all of Seasons 1 and 2 of Futurama with Bear.

You have to learn to take better pictures of your television screen!

Pfft. Amatures.

(And I’m not even going to ask why you’re snapping pictures of “Guns and Ammo TV” and “City Government,” elmwood. )

I’m going to be pissed if I get home and I can’t watch Family Guy. It was fine last night…

Nothin’ on their site about it.

Mr2001, how’s your signal now? It’s coming in over the DTV satellite fine right now… (1651 Eastern)

It’s working now.

No, nothing was plugged into the TV. The other channels worked OK. I called Comcast around 2:30 this morning, when I first noticed the problem, and they were aware of it. I think only the western feed was affected; someone on IRC in CST wasn’t having any problems.

And about the pictures… my poor little Zire 71 wants to be a real digital camera when he grows up, and I want to tell him it’s never going to happen, but I don’t have the heart to shatter his dreams. :frowning:

It definitely didn’t happen out here. We’ve just had our regular
-digital cable sucks- problems. Why the hell do I pay $85 a month for this crap? The stupid Cartoon Network blinks out for 1 minute 15 minutes into every show.

Wow - pretty bizarre. It happened again last night. I got what sounded like the normal audio, but just a still picture - some kid holding a doll or something. (I’m on the West coast.) Anybody know why it’s happening?

I’m on the West Coast (CA), and I haven’t noticed anything unusual. What time(s) does this happen? I’ve been watching from 11:00pm on, and it’s been fine.

Dang, I should’ve written down what time it happened. I don’t remember, but I’m thinking maybe between 5:30 - 6:00 PM. I was just flipping channels so I wasn’t really paying attention; I just remember thinking, “Wow, that’s weird.”

Yeah, but it is being discussed in the forums. No official responses. Some say it’s a cable company problem, yet there are reports from customers of Comcast, Cox and Time Warner.

Just cleared up here (Comcast) while I type this!

Where are the forums where it’s being discussed? I could only find a Usenet post suggesting that the slackers I saw were the band Newfound Glory.

Another Cartoon Network oddity- early this morning, at 1:30 or so AM, I was watching Adult Swim. They played those title cards with the white text on a black background. The TV started playing the audio for Futurama, but the title card remained on the screen. Wierd.
