WTF is with Bruce Willis?

Did anyone else see him on Jimmy Fallon last night? Does he always interview like that or was he stoned out of his mind?

Maybe he was out drinking with Amanda Peet.

And Mark Wahlberg.

Yeah I was out, you know, throwing shit in the quarry and shit, and I sees Bruce Willis, you know? And I says to him hey Bruce lets go throw shit in the quarry and shit. And Bruce is all “no man, I don’t got time for that shit, I got to do this television shit with Jimmy Fallon. Hey you gotta joint or somethin’?”
So I hooked my man Bruce up with some of the bombest chronic you ever laid lips on. Dude was all wasted and shit. Then I went back down to the quarry and shit.

Was that your Mark Wahlberg impression or your Amanda Peet?

I didn’t see it last night, but he’s been weird the past 10 years or so. He used to be involved when he went on talkshows, often seemingly happy and excited while relating anecdotes. Sometimes he’d play his harp. Of late, he doesn’t answer questions or there are awkward pauses while he gets around to answering them. He’s by turns rambling, mumbling or uncommunicative. It’s like he’s morphing into a later-years Brando.

I think “ass” sums it up.

He made a couple of strange appearances in the UK promoting the movie.

He was sort of okay on Letterman, but he did do the spitting gag on it, too.

My suspicion: He knows the movie is a turkey. It’s going to cost him status points in Hollywood (and therefore $). He is mad at the producers for screwing it up. So he’s taking it out on them by deliberating screwing up the PR for the movie. Actors are typically contractually required to do a certain amount of promo appearances. After a couple weeks, they really resent it when the product sucks. So they fight back in little ways. Of course, this is far from the best strategy, but these people usually don’t think things thru.

I didn’t watch the Fallon interview, but Willis always does really goofy gags when he appears on Letterman, like wearing a goofy wig or cross-dressing.

There definitely weren’t any gags on this interview, just BW acting kinda out of it.

Here’s the video on NBC’s site, for a limited time only! Part 1, Part 2.

Sorry NBC, I’m not turning off ad blocking nor am I turning on pop ups. Thanks anyway.

Anyhoo, Willis has always been kind of a silly stoner type, and I don’t think he’s gotten stranger. Older, sure.

I still like him.

Exactly. Bruce Willis doing weird stuff on Letterman has been the norm for close to a decade now. Doing it on other talk shows isn’t much of a stretch.
