It sure seemed like it. Did anyone else think so?
Anyone have a link to it?
I didn’t see that particular appearance, but I have seen other talk show appearances where I thought she was definitely under the influence of something.
Either she has a particularly out-of-it talk show persona, or she indulges more than she should before appearances.
I think that, because she is a fan of the show and understood a lot of the specific silliness that goes on, she wanted to participate and got giddy over it. It’s approaching a kind of over-familiarity, where she felt she had a bit of license to go further.
If you want “tipsy guest on talk show” action, you need to see Mark Wahlberg on Graham Norton.
I’m pretty sure TLLS encourages this sort of thing. I’ve noticed it quite often. I’m pretty sure there’s a little bit of alcohol in the green room, and that guests that get nervous are encouraged to drink it. And of course, some drink a little too much, or at least think they have (and the placebo effect is pretty strong, especially early on in drinking).
Cite? Since Craig Ferguson has been very vocal about being an alcoholic with a severe drinking problem I would find it very odd for the show to try to get the guests drunk. He does not seem to be the type to lecture others about drinking but I don’t see him encouraging it.
Probably. I would assume they probably encourage that. In general people are much more entertaining when a little tipsy.
It probably isn’t provided alcohol. But The Late Late Show is sometimes very bizarre and some guests (Kristen Bell) get very into that. From what I’ve seen of Amanda Peet in other places, I could see her doing it as well.
this. her appearance on Craig Ferguson’s when she was a spokesperson for Crest was similar but worked much better that time.
But, of course, maybe not on TLLS.
Looks like typical starlet talk show behavior.
Its kind of a weird situation to be in. Make small talk for ten minutes with someone you’ve barely met while a room full of people look on expecting to be entertained. I think Peet was just trying to dial up the wackiness because, well, she had to do something to fill the time.
Oh I have no doubt it happens on other shows. I also am not stating that the green room is totally dry. It probably isn’t. But I would have a hard time believing he encourages that kind of behavior given his background.
However, he does actively encourage goofy behavior. His interviews are rarely standard talk show fare. She was probably trying to get into the spirit of the show and failing.
I watched the entire episode and I have to say, he just seemed like a jerk for most of it. Not drunk, just rude.
Here is the part where he is the rudest, but he was rude to Sarah Silverman throughout.
Ya know what, I just re-watched the section I linked to. Maybe he was drunk.
He totally missed what the girl in the red chair said and seemed stunned…and then tipped her back repeatedly.
oh and here’s a link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeBtSL8oPPY
If I had to guess, I’d say he was on ecstasy.
Graham Norton referenced Wahlberg this week. He said, with luck, his cast would be entirely sober this week. And crossed his fingers.
Yeah, Wahlberg was either drunk or high. Everyone could tell.
Sarah Sashi specifically mentioned the backstage booze in her interview with Craig … - YouTube … at about the 4:02 point.
