WTF is wrong with the moronic bush supporting republicans?

I must admit that I did have to look the word up (I find I frequently need to do this when reading the boards), but that is one of the things that attracts me to the boards. I learn a new word almost daily.

>> Anybody want to bet Quint Essence has to use a dictionary to figure out what “fatuous” means?]

It comes from the same root and meaning as “infatuated”.

Sailor, I really hope that was a joke I did not get, because if not, it was just wrong.

sailor is right. The latin root is fatuus, which means foolish. It’s the root of both fatuous and infatuated (I checked in the Concise Oxford Dictionary). So, “infatuated” literally/originally means you’re so into something/someone that you act like a fool.

That’s because it’s a Reserve unit (Conroe, Tx) that allowed members, upon official request, to TAD to 1st Cav. Single guys were tripping all over themselves (including me) to go.

Can you tell me why Hellfires are air-to-ground but TOWS can be air-to-ground or ground-to-ground? (this is a test question for you). But, strictly speaking, a Hellfire, CAN be used as a ground-to-ground weapon. But under what strict conditions? (another test question) So, for practical reasons, Hellfires would not be practical for Hummvees.

By the way, more test questions:

  1. What is “pulling pitch”
  2. What is “settling with power”
  3. What is “effective translational lift” and it’s significance?
  4. Why can a Huey or Cobra’s transmission be overtorqued and an Apache’s cannot.
  5. What are the different warheads available on a 2.74 inch rocket?

Why do you think that? My first PIC (no fair doing a google) was the armory officer. We could mount anything in the nose of our AH-1S(mods) that we fucking pleased, TOE or not, if we could get our hands on it and the C.O. looked the other way. True, we were pilots and warrants, not enlisted. But I’ll bet you apples to oranges if a Hummvee driver wanted something not on the TOE bad enough, he’d find a way to get it and probably get a promotion out of it if it saved lives.

You know, I’m cutting you a lot of slack only because we’re both ex-Army. But, you are incorrect. A Super Cobra is the twin engined Marine version of the AH-1 that was never used by the Army. Which, by the way, still has basically the same gross weight and transmission torque limitations. The second engine provides safety, that’s all. Plus Marines use commissioned officers as pilots, not warrants.

You have to know I am patiently smiling with your description of the AH-64 as being called Apache, don’t you?

Yes (smiling), you are correct in your descriptions. In '89 (my class number was 89-23), you first learn in the UH-1, then “track” into AH-1’s, OH-58’s, or UH-60’s (Blackhawks). But, now, I’m not even sure if there is an AH-1 track anymore since all the guard and reserve units have 64’s. During the Viet Nam era, you first learned in the sewing machine/mosquito recip version with the ungoverned throttle mounted on the collective. If you had trouble walking, talking, and chewing gum at the same time, this was not the machine for you. Then you trackd into UH1’s, AH-1’s, OH-58’s or the Hughes 500.

Good for you and your memory. I went back to med school since then and run a solo practice and it’s been 12 or 13 years since I was in the seat of one and that was a Huey up at Fort something-or-another in Maryland (HQ for Army intelligence, I believe) for 2 weeks. I still have my helmet liner and a few boxes of books and manuals and kneeboard checklists and 2 dufflebags of BDU’s, some flight suits, etc. If inquiring minds want to know more they can read a book.

Off to another thread. The love and comraderie here is just too overwhelming.

You would not believe the love an comraderie I would have for a fellow vet. OTOH I am sure you can imagine how many phonies one runs into on the net. I am not suggesting you are not legit, just that some of your statements made me curious, because in my military experience the things you mention, like why is a Hellfire not fired from ground positions, are unfamiliar in my experience. I really would like to interact with fellow vets, that is why I suggested we e-mail eachother to clear up the missunderstanding as opposed to airing dirty laundry in public.
PS I felt most of your TEST questions were unfair, since I stated I was not an aviator, granted with a few calls and some net time I bet I could have answered them but why, I was not a pilot how should I know those things? it is not like I asked you how to check operator headspace and timing on a 50, or what charge should be set on a four deuce to reach out and touch someone, or what the gear ratio is on a sand rail, what is printed on the back of a claymore. (are those references vague enough for you?)

I just love this chest thumping stuff…

When it comes down to it, if you won’t at least give your Cert. Numbers to the other guy in an private email, then it is all BS.

Anyone can ask tough and sneaky questions. Does not prove a thing.

Data Bases, Newspaper articles, numbers that can be checked, scanned pics of your log books, reference names that are willing to verify ( about military fling wing pilots, I wanna hear from their crew chiefs – give me a name I can check. Bawahahaha )… Then we can play the who knows what best game… ::: sheesh ::::

(10 year old info… geez louize … ) I don’t spout off about current stuff, just old stuff… he he he

Not that I like bush at all, but what the hell ever happened to those “Tolerant” liberals I’ve heard so much about?

It seems that some people are only tolerant of those who believe the way they do.

I AM NOT, I REPEAT, NOT EQUATING THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION WITH NAZISM

But I do understand the anguish, however badly expressed by many so called liberals. It is easy to feel that the escapades of GWB go beyond what is exceptable. Tolerance is fine, to a point. Would anyone suggest that liberals would have been hypocrits for refusing to tolerate Hitler? AGAIN I AM NOT EQUATING BUSH TO HITLER. I am just pointing out that those who advocate tolerance do not have to tolerate everthing to avoid being hypocrits. Their are limits, I am not claiming to know what they are, but advocates of tolerance do not have to invite the absurd.

I can vouch for the fiberglass part, as my company is one that provides the fiberglass to the company that makes the door panels.

The door panels aren’t “armored” though they are required to be, well, I don’t know the official term. Bullet resistant is how I guess I’d label it. I think the person I spoke to said the doors were removable, carryable by one solder for use as a shield, and able to stop something like 8 of 10 bullets fired under whatever test circumstances they had set up. It was something like 12 layers of woven fiberglass and veil to meet those specs.

Ah…when you wax so poetically like that, I just envision you with the tweezers and magnifying glass, jerking off, fantacizing about screwing your mentally handicapped, toothless sister, seeing as how you are the product of incest yourself.

Hey Skipper, you’re really doin’ great on that “first do no harm” oath, eh?

HarmUna Persson? How about euthanizing him with a bullet to the back of his head?

American Maid

Only if you say you love me.

If I say I love you will you explain why the 6th/7th does not appear on the complete list of units serving in Desert Storm, including Guard and reserve units?

OK, that’s enough out of you. You’ve already had three warnings. You’re gone.
