WTF is wrong with you, conservative America?!?

 Good luck with that! Ever wonder how the Wisconsin legislature ended up in their current state? Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Why, the majority of Wisconsin voters are obviously poorly informed or stupid.

Whoda thunk it?

Moving on…

(and unsubscribing)

And a tow-headed boy runs out onto the prairie, crying at the ever shrinking figure on horseback.

“Shane! Shane! Go away, Shane!..”

No, they didn’t. They only had 59 votes in the Senate. In the topsy-turvy world of Senate politics, 59 out of 100 is not a majority. But you knew that.

One thing is, you can’t even count.

Shodan

59 out of 100 is a majority, it just isn’t enough to block a filibuster.
What does it matter given the democrats aren’t really liberal anyways? In any case, you couldn’t find a way to sway 1 person to change their vote? A case of money behind some dumpster? Photos of some senator making sign language to the guy in the next stall at an airport washroom? No way at all? You deserve to lose.

You cut off the beginning of that sentence and completely missed that it was facetious. The point is that a simple majority in the US Senate is not sufficient to pass legislation against the resistance of a determined minority party. It’s therefore totally disingenuous to say that the Dems “fucked up” their majority. A majority doesn’t cut it in the Senate. They never had a supermajority, so the Republicans were able to stonewall everything with their childish abuse of the filibuster.

You’re saying the Democrats deserve to lose because they’re not corrupt?

They didn’t get nothing done, by the way. They still managed to save your ass from a depression and pass a meaningful health care bill. You’re welcome.

Liberals can’t count.

Shodan

Aw, heck, Doggyknees, why did you have to spoil it? That was classic Shodan!

Teabaggers can’t understand sarcasm.

The thing you have to understand about the liberals is:

  1. We’ve all “drunk the Kool-Aid”, march in lockstep and stifle all dissent;

  2. Yet we’re so disorganized and can’t agree on anything or get our goals achieved; therefore

  3. We’re a hivemind, but a really, really incompetent one.

Thus is cognitive dissonance avoided.

Ah, yes, Shodan marching into a thread about what’s wrong with conservatives, doing his usual low content dick move shit, and then feeling smugly satisfied. Oh, the irony.

Btw, Smiling Bandit, I’ll get around to replying eventually, but the 8 billion word posts I wrote last night took it out of me for now.

Liberals are stupid.

Shodan

Shodans are yum

They deserve to lose because they aren’t willing to do what is necessary to win. 1 vote is all you needed and you couldn’t do it. “Missed it by that much!” There was no one on the other side that couldn’t have been swayed given the right incentive? Nah, you weren’t willing to die on that hill because you weren’t ‘real’ liberals. Kind of proves EP’s point earlier.

Too bad they didn’t care enough about the economy to prevent the recession in the first place.

There was nothing they could do about that. That was right wing de-regulation coming home to roost.

Liberals caused the recession.

Shodan

Of course! That’s it! Radical left wingers burrowed into the financial sector and rose to power at Goldman Sachs and AIG! Then, at a signal from beyond the grave from Trotsky, BAM!

:frowning: If only!

Actually, to be totally fair, here…

I’m pretty sure that it was Clinton-era, Democratically-drafted and -passed housing equality legislation that set the stage for the housing bubble (and subsequent burst). Banks were pretty much mandated to give loans to sub-prime borrowers, and they’re the ones who royally fucked things up for the housing market.

I’m liberal, and I think it was bone-headed fucking STUPID to allow/encourage people with horrible credit and poor intentions, to get mortgages. And that’s pretty much exclusively the Dems’ fault. Granted, the lending banks really did actively exploit some stupid/lazy people, and that’s not the fault of liberals, but some really BAD liberal legislation made that possible.

So while the Wall Street scandals–another big piece of the recession pie–are certainly more connected to Republican policies (and conservatives’ fondness for scant oversight), I don’t think it can reasonably denied that Dems/liberals carry some significant culpability for the recession.

(But then, Bush’s Admin didn’t exactly spare no expense or idea to right the ship! TARP–Bush’s baby, not Obama’s–was a bailout for corporations, not taxpayers!)

Our side ain’t perfect. That’s alls I’m sayin’ about the recession issue.
