WTF is wrong with you, conservative America?!?

Shodan molested and murdered a young girl in 1997?

Regardless,
Lobohan

Jeez, **Shoddy, **now you are just phoning it in. Where’s the invective?

Actually, no. I’ve already made the point that the HCR bill started on the Republican side of the fence and headed rightwards from there, yet even with massive concessions not a single Republican voted for it and the right-wing message continued to be how Obama wasn’t being bi-partisan at all. Never mind that all evidence then and since indicates that when Republicans say “being bi-partisan” they mean “giving us everything we want” and what they “want” is for the Democrats to fail.

The Democrats could have offered to change their party name to the Stinky Doodoohead Party and offered free beer and hookers and the Republicans still wouldn’t have surrendered a single vote.

I can haz Shodans

One thing that is wrong with conservatives is the “win at all costs, and damn the ethics” attitude.

Winning is everything. Governing is hard, so they concentrate on winning. If it takes

“A case of money behind some dumpster, or photos of some senator making sign language to the guy in the next stall at an airport washroom”

in order to get votes to change policy, then that is what must be done.

Another thing wrong with conservatives is that they can look at 8 years of conservative federal leadership, which includes deregulation of banking, and then claim that the “other side” caused a recession. Oh, they’ll twist and turn and look back 10 years to see what they can use as an excuse… But bottom line is that they take no responsibility for their own poor policies, and will therefore never learn from their mistakes.

For conservatives, the world is reduced to black and white, with no room for nuance.

Getting universal health coverage for 45 million Americans who are without insurance isn’t worth a couple of hundred grand in a suitcase behind a dumpster? What’s that, a half penny per person?
Or, if that is distasteful to you, how about offering the speaker of the house position, or some other plum incentive for a person to cross the floor. It’s certainly not unheard of in Canada. Link Paul Martin’s government survived a confidence vote when Belinda Stronach crossed the floor and was given a Minister’s job. Oh, wait a minute! Wasn’t that a Liberal government? Seems to me that was a ‘win at all costs, and damn the ethics’ attitude. Or are they not ‘real’ liberals, either?
Yeah, you deserve to lose. Sucks to be one of the 45 million when the people who are supposedly working in their best interests are afraid to actually play the game of politics, though.

Sub prime borrowers have been around for decades. The only reason it got out of control was the creation of Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS). MBS plowed through prime mortgages and when those were exhausted they started taking sub-prime mortgages sprinkling in a few prime mortgages into the tranche and then getting the entire bundle rated as a AAA-grade-100%-safe security and then selling them off to pension funds, who then demanded more of these totally safe totally legit investments (which had been rated by Moodys and S&P).

So investment banks then told mortgage originators “we want mortgages and here’s 6% commission for finding us some” and because mortgage originators no longer actually hold onto the mortgage for 20 years once they have their commission and the mortgage has been sliced and diced and sold off to CalPers they no longer have to worry about it.

I have to say, Uzi, that your brazen slimeyness and assholery is… not quite refreshing. But it’s not hidden behind high minded appeals to ideology or something. It’s just right there in the raw, disgusting insistence that not being scum means you deserve to lose. It’s certainly different, anyway. So… props?

Well, I guess you can sleep soundly knowing you did your best to maintain your ideals as 45 million people remain without healthcare, or can lose a little sleep knowing you lowered yourself to the level of your opponents to get the job done. Luckily, I’ve never had to do anything similar myself. But then I’ve never had to worry about 45 million people before, some of which will die because I wasn’t able to get one lousy stinking vote changed. If 45 million people are not enough for you to take off you gloves to get things changed, then what is?

And while we’re at it, why won’t the government make deals with terrorists? Aren’t they willing to save a few lives at the expense of their precious ideals? After all, if those people die it’ll be the government’s fault rather than the fault of the people who are holding them hostage to fortune.

Fair cop. But, not all liberals, just me. (What?! I was going through a bad breakup, I took it out on the housing market. Leave me alone.)

You’re against the health care reform bill, right? Because if so you sound cartoonishly evil.

HAHA LIBERALS! YOU COULD’VE DONE SO MUCH TO MAKE SO MANY LIVES BETTER IF ONLY YOU HAD BEEN AS EVIL AS US AND GOT YOUR WAY. BUT YOU DIDN’T. AND NOW PEOPLE WILL SUFFER. HAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
The whole attitude of “lol liberals had a majority and couldn’t even get it done, what a bunch of schmucks!” coming from the same people who fucking threatened violence and revolution and pulled out every possible political trick to stop it is… bizarre.

It confirms that you are not actually interested in bettering the country, but rather just defeating your opposition and gloating. Even if your opposition is on the side of good.

I’ve often wondered about that, I’ve been wearing the white hat for so long, never really thought about the alternative. Just sort of assumed that once you point out that something is good, you pretty much have won, anybody is going to go along with you once you show them that what you are advocating is good.

I guess it could be cool to be like Darth Vader and do that finger-waggling thingy and make somebody start to choke to death. Me, I’d probably use it to make women have multiple orgasms on the bus, or something. But that’s just me, maybe.

They make deals with dictators all the time. Saudi Arabia, North Korea, China, etc. Not a hell of a lot of difference between them and terrorists, imho.

When ‘terrorist’ means anyone you don’t like, it is pretty useless to describe anything.

Terrorist usually means a few innocent people killed.
Dictators usually mean a lot of innocent people killed. Plus a whole lot of oppression for the rest.
Again, whatever allows you to sleep at night.

You are a funny, funny little man, and you are emblematic of what is wrong with conservatives.

ETA: Currently at the Calgary Airport, so I’ll give you a wave as I fly over.

All five fingers?

Interesting that you agree with the “Republicans act like terrorists” idea and still support them.

Why do you hate America, Uzi?

Find one thing in this thread where I’ve supported the Republicans other than in your own head? I’ve even said that they’d fall for a case of money behind a dumpster. People having to sell their homes to pay for medical expenses shouldn’t happen. Being against losers and idiots doesn’t mean I’m for the other side. D=Some good ideas, lousy implementers, R=Some bad ideas, good implementers. ‘Know your enemy, know yourself’-Sun Tse (paraphrased, possibly mis-attributed).

I’m a Canadian, it’s mandatory.
