This reminds me of an episode of either Arsenio or MadTV, which had Ice T and Tupac sitting on barstools, singing (not rapping) the classic duet, “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers Anymore.”
Hmnn, somehow mention of “Blake’s 7” made me think of what was probably one of the biggest WTF? reactions from british tv viewers in the 1960s: the first regeneration of the title character in “Doctor Who.” Given that the show routinely employed cliffhanger endings, I imagine that the audience who saw William Hartnell transfom into Patrick Troughton in the final minute of one episode didn’t get too agitated, expecting it all to be explained away and the ‘real’ Doctor to reappear in the next episode; only to tune in next week and realize that this ‘was’ the Doctor and that William Hartnell wasn’t coming back.
Possibly another major WTF? moment would be the first post-Diana Rigg episodes of “the Avengers.” For several years, Steed had been paired up with classy, earthy babes Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman) and Emma Peel (Rigg) respectively, only then have to see him ‘teamed up’ with buxom, bubble-headed Tara King. I’m sure folks were saying WTF? Where the bloody 'ell is Mrs. Peel??
Two Farscape moments for me - the final moments of the last episode (pre-Peacekeeper Wars) - when John and Aeryn were crystallized by the Eidelons. Granted, they had planned to come back for another season, but for fans of the show, that moment freakin’ SUCKED, especially when we had no idea if we were getting the miniseries for closure.
And in one episode of the third season after the crew had been reunited (and one of the Johns had died) - I can’t remember who John was talking to, but Aeryn was in a snit, stalked off, and John turned to whoever he was with and said “You think she’s bad? You should’ve met her mother.”. Errr…THAT John never met her mother. The OTHER John was with Aeryn when she first met Xhalax. I’m sure it was just an overlook in the script, but I did a doubletake and had to wrack my brain to remember if this John had ever met Xhalax.
E.
That sounds a lot like the end of season 2, and beginning of season 3, of 24. But that show is way too good to stop watching just because they completely ignored a huge plot development from the previous season. Besides, if I stopped watching, Jack would probalby get Kim to shoot me in the head.
Speaking of Angel, it was something of a WTF moment for me when in the season 5 episosode “Time Bomb”, Illyria kills Spike, Lorne, Wes and Angel in the space of about eight seconds. We almost immediately find out that it didn’t actually happen, but it was a jaw-slacking moment.
People, this whole thread is a WTF moment!
Nobody remembers a little show called Dallas?
A man named Bobby?
A shower scene?
Hel-lo?
I’ve been watching reruns of The Gilmore Girls and here’s something that’s always bothered me. During the time when Rory was dating Dean and was attracted to Jess, Dean was definitely showing some pathologically jealous behaviors. He was extremely manipulative. Kind of scary. Lorelai would take Dean’s side instead of saying, “Dude, you’re scaring me, you’ve got to back off.”
(Well, it took a long time for this to happen anyway.)
It just surprised me that everybody seemed to think Dean’s behavior was normal. Lorelai is usually so protective of Rory. She is so independent, I would think she’d want the same thing for her daughter.
