I suspect he will remain Otto. He’ll be funny and witty and piss off other people at other times. For me at least I find him smart and witty much more often than he pisses me off, but then I don’t seem to interact with him all that often.

My self esteem is just fine. I just don’t feel that my or anyone else’s contributions to this board entitle us to anything. We are certainly not entitled to a say in how the board is run.
The membership as a whole provide desirable content however the board developed from the SDMB columns, without the columns there would have been no board, and if the columns were discontinued now there would probably be no board, on the other hand if it was decided to get rid of GD, the BBQ Pit, MPSIMS, IMHO etc the board could still go on. Even though the columns themselves form a very small part of this board they are the essence of it. I used to frequent a Fender guitar discussion board, the most active part of it was the equivalent of MPSIMS but no one was under any illusion that that part of the board was anything other than an amusing sidebar. IMO the centre piece of this board is GQ.
