I think people have been way too harsh about board performance, but maybe that’s because I really haven’t had much trouble with it. But having said that, this banning was bullshit. If that’s the threshold for banning, then we’re about to have a big population drop.
I just wanted to say that I think Ed made a stellar decision, he is also incredibly handsome, urbane and witty. I think he and all the moderators have exceptional judgement in these matters and make it absolutely clear where the line is.
I love Ed and the moderators, I intend on making them a shrine, naming my first born after them, planting several trees in thier honor and writing my congressman to see if I cannot get a special day in their honor.
They are truly the greatest ever.

Bit suprsing but I can’t muster much outrage. I got the distinct impression a lot in Otto’s life hasn’t worked for him, and for quite a while at that. To put if tactfully (since he can’t respond), his relentless bitter complaints about so manythings got old for me. I just didnt bother to read much of anything he wrote.
Kind of too bad but even getting one final warning…sheesh. Doesn’t take a genius to ratchet back sniping and bitching. I’m not sure Otto could, lately, judging by his litany of dissatisfaction with just about everything. But Ed, the mods and admins didn’t have to give him another free pass either.

Here I go again. I know they say that the definition of insanity is repeating the same actions but expecting different results…but I never did say I was sane.
About this time last year, I bid the dope adieu. It was coming up to the end of my subscription and I didn’t feel like staying on the board. People convinced me to give it another shot. I gave in, ponied up my $15 and have been (mostly) happy I did.
But now, with the new server sucking more than not (which I realize is in the process of being resolved), a huge influx of guests that act like asses since they don’t have their subscription price to lose if they’re banned, and now with the banning of Otto.
That was a fucked up, dick move, Ed. This is my last post til Otto is reinstated with an apology.

There are plenty of good reasons to do something like this. But by all appearances this rule isn’t for any of them - it’s because of annoyance, not to let reasonability flow more smoothly. And it’s poorly implemented.
You’ve said you would have done something like this a long time ago. Would you have done it out of spite? Would you have posted the new rule only in a single forum?
I might be far off. And as a straight middle aged male, I shouldn’t really try to understand. It’s just the vibe I get, mainly that he’s not a very happy person and that maybe - maybe - being gay is partly the reason.
To understand where I’m coming from, I work closely with an overwight (330 lbs) 5’11" trekker who’s also gay. He just moved in with a 6’5" Adonis and they’re very much in love. My co-worker is a very nice guy, though not the type who’d have a great chance of scoring at the local gay club. Still, he’s content, if a bit put off by the more flaming gays in our not so big city (300k). Despite the fact that he is in no way the stereotypical gay guy, he always comes across as more comfortable with his sexuality than **Otto **does.
So, quite possibly, I’m misjudging Otto.
Maybe that’s because being gay in the E.U. zone is easier than in the U.S. and it’s not more complicated than that.

I don’t see it. Otto asked a question. A reasonable question, to my mind. Was it unacceptable because he didn’t snap his heels and salute before he said it? Did he not offer the proper sacrifices to Edthulhu?
What I saw was a man who almost never posted (for YEARS) until he had a book to sell making a snap decision and summarily banning someone who asked him a reasonable question, then only after multiple people insisted that he answer it, giving a snarky answer himself that belittled the users of this board (some of whom actually pay money for the experience) and was simply rude to boot.
