A few years ago we decided to order a Pizza Hut Stuffed Crust Pizza, because we never order it and we were sure it would be yummy. No problems with the ordering, but it took about an hour to get the pizza, and while the crust was indeed stuffed with cheese-like filling, they mostly neglected to include any other toppings at all, including cheese, and what there was was all piled into the middle of the pizza.
We never ordered from them again.
Besides, the 1001 local pizza places with names like “2 pour 1 pizza!” and “MEGA PIZZA!” are way better, way cheaper, and can get the pizza to your door in under 20 minutes. With poutine, too!
When I was visiting Winnipeg a couple years back I ran into that same situation. Never could get the guy taking my order to understand what I was wanting to order, so I said “to hell with this” and ordered from a local pizza place. Thankfully the Pizza Huts around here [WV] haven’t gone to that method yet.
Anyone living in Montréal and ordering crappy chain pizza needs help.
… or my favorite, Phil N. DeBlanc
Off to Cafe Society (from MPSIMS).
A friend was looking at my phone (hey, we were bored), and asked “Who’s Jenny?”
“What?”
“Who’s Jenny?”
“I don’t… know…”
I’d forgotten that three phones ago I’d put 867-5309 in my contacts.
Glad I never butt-dialed it.
Would they take 1(234)567-8900? I used that on a form once…
I bit off topic, but re: 867-5309
I read an article about how pretty much all grocery stores will accept a phone number in lieu of one of their discount cards when you check out. The author figured somebody at one time probably used that number. He was right, it worked in every chain and every area code he tried.
That’s been my experience with them as well. The cheese was mostly in the center with a lot of exposed crust like a monkey assembled it. I asked the server if we could have a properly assembled and cooked pizza. I’m paying 20 bucks for it after all.
Yeah, same here. When I was a kid, Pizza Hut is what passed for fine dining in my hometown - they had actual table cloths, candles on the table, a big roaring fireplace in the middle. Granted it wasn’t Michelin-star quality or anything, but you could do much worse if you wanted to take your family out to a sit-down place on a Saturday night without spending a lot of money.
And while they’re still one of my favorite chain pizzas, I agree that they’re not as good as they used to be, both in terms of service and product.
Pretty much the only chain pizza we get now is Papa Murphy’s. They don’t deliver (around here at least) and you still have to cook it when you get home, but it’s amazing pizza.
Okay, so now we have Papa Murphy’s, Papa John’s, Godfather’s.
Any pizza chains named after mothers and moms?
What’s the matter with you? Just give the minimum waged employee behind the counter a fake name and number, pay, and leave with your pizza.
Also very, very good.
I always preferred the service I got with emailblackhole.com but it seems to work better on websites than in person.
Our local Pizza Slut delivery team tries to pull the ol’ Scratch an Imprint of Your Card on the Receipt With a Pencil" game to which my reply was “The fuck, you will.”
Thought it was a one off the first time. The second time with a different driver… well needless to say Pizza Hut is no longer a delivery option…
I have the direct number to our local Pizza Hut and have never had a problem.
Granted, I always go pick it up myself (on the way home from work, and just minutes from my house), but I have never had to speak with someone from India to order my pizza (pasta Alfredo!) in Las Vegas.
Edit: BTW, a student of mine is a pizza delivery guy, and he said business is down there as well - they are cut back to 3-4 hour shifts, due to lack of business. I don’t think he works for Pizza Hut, but just thought I would mention that these delivery people are hurting too.
It’s times like these when I’m glad I prefer to pay in cash.
When I was growing up I really liked Pizza Hut. I used to order from there once a month or so. Then I tried them recently at a Target a few weeks ago. They must have changed the recipe because the pizza was so bad I only ate a few bites and then threw the rest of it out.
You know what they say: No shirt, no shoes, no name, no service.
I can’t begin to understand the mindset of a company (or individual supposedly working on behalf of the company) that refuses a sale because you decline to tell them your name. For a take-out pizza, no less! You’re whooshing us, no?
