All of a sudden, my browser (Firefox 2.0.0.1) is displaying different webpages in different fonts. Yesterday it switched to Sans Serif for all websites (Ugh), but today it got really weird. The SDMB front page was all bold text the last time I opened it, and this time it’s all in Edwardian Script! I tried using the help feature, but that tells me that the font menu can be accessed from the advanced tab. the only problem is…it can’t(!?? ) I go Options-Advanced and…nothing. No font options. None. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero. Can anyone help me with this? I’m afraid that pretty soon it’s going to start using those fonts that are nothing but symbols and I’ll really be SOL.
Now it’s using different fonts on the same page. For example, on the front page of MPSIMS, all the titles of threads that have new replies are in script, and the ones that have no new replies are in Sans Serif.
Try Tools>Options>Content>Advanced.
You should find your font settings there.
Thanks, I found it, but I’m not finding a way to fix the problem. Hmm…
OK, I can’t fix this and it’s driving me nuts. Anyone got any ideas?
Reinstall? Either that or check if there is a configuration file somewhere. Might be that the config file (if there is one) got trashed. If so, simply deleting that might fix your problem. Of course, all your settings and such will be gone.
I think you’ll get more answers in GQ. I’ll move this there for ya.
He did reinstall, to no avail.
This morning, everything is in script. How the hell do I fix this??? Come on, i know there are knowledgeable people out here, please help me out.
Reinstalls sometimes skip the preferences files, and a dinged prefs file could be the root of your troubles.
If you can find the prefs file(s), delete it.
Applications usually respond to missing prefs file(s) by creating new prefs file(s).
Have you run spyware and virus scans? How about HijackThis?
Huh. I tried deleting the Prefs folder, but then the browser wouldn’t work, so I uninstalled and reinstalled, and for right now, I’m back to regular text. So it worked. Maybe. Thanks for the suggestion.
