WW2 Draft Deferments; Alcoholism a Deferment?

If a draftee to WW2 had a severe, documented alcohol problem - say, he had a long rap sheet of drunk & disorderlies, multiple alcohol-related hospitalizations, etc. - would he have gotten a deferment? Or would he have been sent to boot camp to sober up?

That civilian part of that rap sheet would have ended when a judge gave him the choice between enlisting or going to jail. His military rap sheet would probably pick up with the same kind of offenses.

Alcohol problems in that time didn’t have the focus they have now. The concepts of alcohol abuse as a disease is a modern one, it wouldn’t have been considered more of a moral failing in the past. There was already a problem with drunk driving, but if laws like a modern DUI existed they wouldn’t be enforced against someone not involved in an accident.

Alcohol is never a deferment. It’s always a ferment.

I think having anachronistic technology would be a deferment.

How is this relevant?

It isn’t. At all. But I haven’t yet figured out how to disable that sentence being put on everything I post from my phone.
