Try montreal.com. Also do a Google search on Tourisme Québec, then click on “English” when you get to the site. (I’m assuming their pages are available in English.)

Hmm… Go check out the Old Port. It’s a cool area. The Labyrinth is really fun, it’s a big maze.
Also, strolling along St. Catherine and window shopping, going to the Biodome and/or Planetarium…
That’s all I can think of at the moment.
IIRC, the Cirque du Soleil is in Montreal again this summer with a new show. Go see it It really is a great performance - I’ve seen Saltimbanco, Alegria and Quidam, and REALLY hate that I missed Dralion. Eventually, maybe…
The best thing to do would be to postpone your trip to August, when I will have returned from Spain and will be available to show you around.
Failing that… how late in July are we talking? You might be able to catch the beginning of Divers-Cité, our queer pride fest.
Grab a local weekly when you’re in town, and there will be plenty of things to do. Montreal is Festival Central all summer long.
Funky things to do may depend on your mastery of *joual.
