Xbox Live Friend Request - Is it waiting for me somewhere?

First: I have no Xbox Live friends; I guess I’m too old and until recently I did’nt know that anybody I knew had an Xbox 360.

However, last night while playing Forza there was an announcement that so-and-so wanted to be my friend. I know the guy and would like to accept it, but I couldn’t pause the game at the time; figured I accepted it later.

Now, after careful examination, I can’t find the request anywhere, and hence the dopers:

  1. Can you receive a friend request and accept it later (like in Facebook)?
  2. If so, where?*
  • I use the new GUI which was installed with an update a year ago or so; don’t know what it’s called, but it’s the fancy one with avatars etc.

Try this: Fire up your Xbox and sign in, then push the big central “X” button on your controller. From that set of menus, you should be able to respond to any friend requests or access messages sent by friends. I’m not near mine right now to confirm, but I think that’s how to do it.

Yes, friend requests wait until you accept or decline them, or until the person who sent you the request cancels it. If you hit the Xbox Guide button on the controller (the big X button in the middle) you should be able to go to see your friends list and whatnot. If you have any active friend requests, it will appear as a new message.

Here’s a guide that shows how to send a friend request too: Xbox Support

Alternatively, if you have your Xbox gamer profile linked with a Passport account, you can send/accept friend requests online here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/myxbox/myprofile.htm (in addition to purchasing content and queuing content to download on your Xbox).

Thank you very much, Anaptyxis, the man is now my friend. Thanks for taking the extra time, BrandonR, with links and everything – much appreciated.
