Xylophone(?) music in the animated movie Madagascar, and elsewhere

In the Animated movie Madagascar, there’s a scene where Alex the lion is dreaming of steaks falling down from the sky, set to a piece of music played (I think) on Xylophone or something that sounds like it. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the (plucked strings) opening theme of Six Feet Under, although obviously not the same piece

What is the music? - I don’t think it was composed specially for the movie, as I’ve heard it elsewhere too.

Ah… I think I found it - Dead Already by Thomas Newman from the movie American Beauty (I haven’t seen that movie, but I now recognise the Madagascar dream sequence as a reference to the rose petals thing)

Who, by the way, also wrote the aforementioned Six Feet Under theme, in case you didn’t realize that as well.

sounds more like marimba
