Yahoo, I just got an iMac

After years in the PC abyss, we have returned to our Apply roots. We just got an iMac- it’s set up mostly for the kids, as my PC laptop is still in my office.

I feel back in the fold. I don’t mean to start a PC vs Mac to do, just wanted to pop and say:

Yeah!!

My first thought upon reading the thread title was, “And why, exactly, would Yahoo! care?” … :smack:

Congratulations on your new toy.

Let me rephrase, “Wahoo, I just got an iMac”

It is fun…

Oh man. I’m on an iMac right now (at work). It rocks.

I never use PC’s anymore. I used my dad’s the other day for something and I got allll confused.

Congrats on the iMac. They rock.

Yeah, I remember programming in BASIC on our first Apple Plus (when I was in 8th grade).

I used a SE30 in grad school and thought I was all that.

This iMac is awesome! Plus, I installed Firefox.

. . . and why exactly would the Cleveland Indians mascot care?

but seriously welcome back to the bright side!

I looove my iBook G4. I work with a bunch of PC freaks and they love to tell me Apple is crap. Whatever. My computer doesn’t get viruses AND it’s cute.

man, I hate you. I am really running out of ideas on how to make my two PC’s break so I can justify buying an iMac.

My computer is dangerous.
My computer likes to take risks.
My computer can run just about anything in the universe.
My computer is cute too, dammit!

I have a PC. And it’s warming mah ballz right now.

I just got a MacMini for home. Love the thing, but it has been over 20 years since I owned an Apple, so I’m a little onfused on where things are and how to get what I want done. I am thinking of selling this in February when I go back to the USA and buying an iMac when there to return with. I saw some great Refurbished deals at Apple.com - 10% to 20% off newer models, more for the older ones.

You could say “Huzzah” or “Hooray,” I suppose. Or a MacCauley Culkinesque “Yesssssssssssssss!”

In any event, welcome back! Except for an ill-advised purchase of an AT&T PC while I was in law school, we’ve always had Macs, and love 'em. Although I have to use a PC at work, Macs are where it’s at. Enjoy!

My current iMac is limping along and I’m eyeballing the new ones- they’re sweet. But I’m running into a little sticker shock- what I’d want will run nearly $1500, and my brother makes a pretty good argument that a comparable Windows machine is about $1000. As much as I love Macs and hate Windows, $500 cheaper is compelling.

Why, Apple, oh why do you have to be so pricey!?!?!?

Glad to have you back!

I hold no ill will towards my PC brethren, I simply share your love for the Mac.

Just when they came out, I made the comparison and once you had matched all the specs, they costed about the same. Then again, Dell prices are lowered weekly and Apple prices, well, less so.

But c’mon, form factor! You are freeing a lot of room on your desk.

oh, and dual-boot. You have both computers.

Welcome back!

Just think of the money you’ll save on not needing antivirus subscriptions.

I love my iMac, but I want to point out that AVG for PCs is still free, and I’ve been using it on my Windows laptop for years - I have never caught a virus.

Screw AVG - it’s going all-pay soon. Get Avast.

(I still take care of the maintenance on my boyfriend’s PC).

Depending on how much you use your computer, $500 may be well worth enjoying something you love and avoiding something you hate.

I’m dual-platform at home: a barebones PC and a PowerBook G4. In order to avoid dominance disputes/whip it into submission, I stuck a multicolor-stripe Apple logo sticker on the PC’s case.

I love this idea! I currently work from 4 differrent computers- three are PCs- I will Apple sticker them all!

As soon as I plugged in the iMac I remembered why I love Macs- the way the power cord fits through the back stand and sits flush with the monitor- I swoon!
