hi… i just saw on the yahoo mail sign up page that they are offering new accounts with 4mb storage. My free yahoo mail account has a 6mb mailbox. I signed up just a few weeks back.
However, my friend has been with Yahoo mail for much longer and she’s always had a 4mb mailbox.
Why the discrepancy ? And how can she change from her 4mb mailbox to a 6mb mailbox (without having to sign up for a paid 10mb+ mailbox) ?
I searched through all the yahoo mail help pages but nothing addressed this issue. I’ve written you yahoo support but don’t expect a response any time soon.
I’ve had a yahoo acount a couple of years. My mailbox is 6mb.
BTW, I just started using their photo albums in the last 6 months. You get a separate allocation of memory for that, 30mb for free!. I was really rather impressed, though they limit the size of individual photos.
I’ve been there for years now, and mine has always been 6meg. No clue what the deal is. Sometimes they offer 4, at one time they were doing 2meg, if I recall right.
That is what it appears to be. Yahoo Mail US gives 4mb of storage space, but Yahoo Mail UK offers 6mb. Upon browsing, it appears that some offer 6mb and some offer 4mb; in fact, Yahoo Mail Canada offers 4mb of space if you register in English, but 6 mb if you register in French.
we’re both signed up on yahoo.com ( the US version) so it’s not a local variation thing.
k2dave, that’s what i was thinking… that when she signed up it was offering 4mb.
what’s strange is that those who signed up a long time ago, such as Saint Zero and yojimboguy, have 6mb… then, those that signed up a year or so back have 4mb (like my friend), and those who signed up a few weeks back have 6mb (like me)… and now just a few days back yahoo has gone back to offering 4mb.
it seems to me that they should reward long time users, but this is not the case.
lel, that’s an interesting observation… now, what if someone were to register in french and then change the account settings or options, assuming such an option is available, to switch to english, would it stay at 6mb or cut back to 4mb ?
