4 years ago? Holy hell.
I went for a mammogram and they saw what they described to me as a large mass on the films while I sat in the waiting room and the woman came running out saying they needed to do an ultrasound right away. That was at 3 on a Friday and finally on Tuesday morning I called my doc like a raging lunatic until he called to find out the results. It was a very long four nights of no sleep.
You have every right to be angry BratMan. It’s hard for laymen to understand the complexities of modern medicine but somewhere along the line, common sense should kick in.
Strictly as a sidenote, my father died of colon cancer. Want the kicker? He’d taken the little card test and it’d come back “questionable”. Okay, this was 15 years ago, but no further testing was done, just “we’ll watch”.
A year later, by the time symptoms showed up, it was way too late. The cancer had spread to his liver, and it was far too advanced to treat. And he died of it.
I still wonder “what if” about that first test. Nothing will bring him back, or give back the years. But I’m not a passive “health consumer” any more.
