yellow tinted windows on car

At my work, there is a car with distinctively yellow window tinting. I can’t see this as being as effective as the darker tinting with regards to blocking the sun. What is the point of the yellow?

Night driving? Not just mostly useless but completely useless.

I would bet on it being for appearance and not function. Some old 60s-era hot rods and gassers (and new hot rods built in the “traditional” style sometimes have crazy colored tint, red or green or yellow, just to be different and make a visual statement. Some examples here and here.

In recent years, some of the import crowd (generally) have latched onto this old trend, I’ve seen a yellow Honda with yellow tint that didn’t really match…it looked hideous.

Driving in rain and other low visibility conditions (not night)? I have yellow sunglasses inserts and it makes a big difference in the rain. However unless the windscreen is tinted, I don’t see how that would make much of a difference on a car.

The car in question is a newer-ish Nissan Maxima. Very plain Jane and all of the windows have yellow tint. If this was for style, they dramatically missed; it just looks…well, weird.

Nothing of value to add; just wanted to say I find those yellow-tinted vehicles to be horrendously ugly. I have no clue why someone would do that to their cars.
