Yep, Rove Did It. Welcome to the Smoking Gun Show.

According to a highly impartial source (namely Karl Rove), the documents prove Karl Rove did nothing wrong:

Ya got that, hippies? *“Politics played no role in the Bush administration…” *Case closed. Now let’s get back to Obama’s death panels.

Quoteth from the OP:

Looks pretty specific to me.

Do those collect energy from death like solar panels collect solar energy? If you mean something else there’s endless health care threads for that. Including the point that current healthcare insurance companies are running death panels by choosing not to cover people.

I’ve got to go with the classics here:

But tell me, brothers and sisters, is anyone surprised that Rove and Co are guiltier than sin here? Could anyone not tell this [del]Harkonnen[/del] Rovian trick by the sheer stink of it?

I’m afraid the Rove may weasel and lawyer his way out of this, just like he danced his way out of betraying a covert CIA operative. And all the while he will question my patriotism. Not enough  in the world.

If the devil is efficient I’ll see Rove in hell, since we’ll be chained to the same brim stone.

Can a brother get some context?

Be careful what you wish for. There’s like, 5,000 pages. So, whats hit the blogosphincter is just what’s been dug up so far, with thousands of lefty wonks skimming like crazy.

I think they’ll try the “we didn’t do anything wrong, we were just giving orders” defense.

Orders from who? Who’s left?

God, of course.

OK, just for instance and so far…

Shorter Rove: his aide was “free lancing”, he knew nothing, nothing. Nope.

Bolding added in order to elucidate.

Hey, I wasn’t born with reading problems, I had to work at it!

Um, no. It’s still unlear who is being pitted. Bush? Rove? Meirs? US attorneys? The people who found the papers? Those “tighty righties”?

Until I know, I can’t really respond in a pit appropriate manner. Right now, my responses would be more inline for GD. (Like asking what you think will be the political significance of this information.) Of course, that’s a limit on my own ability, as other people have seemed to have responded appropriate manner by insulting Rove. I just wonder if that was the OP’s intention, or if, as I read it, s/he actually wanted intelligent discussion mixed in with the wanted apologies.

And another witticism crashes and burns.

Thanks. I didn’t realize I was being so subtle.

Call it a gloat thread.

At least you can offer meta-level observations. I suppose the apologies can wait until after you move through the next few stages.

Being so meta is a different type of distraction attempt, though. Kudos on that. It’s also quite rare to see the “I’ve got some thoughtful questions, but I can’t bring them up because this is the pit” routine.

Crucial issues, to be sure. Perhaps we should set aside, for now, any discussion of the obscenity of using the Justice Department to further the electoral fortunes of a political party, and focus on the essential questions of correct thread placement. I would not wish to be seen as sullying the pristine purity of the Pit merely to discuss such minor matters as the abject corruption of our political system by grasping, greedy and amoral apparatchiks.

We have a number of statues to the Goddess of Justice, we might wish to discuss how these could be modified to better represent what we have allowed to be created, we might suggest alterations so that those statues might more closely reflect a two-dollar whore.

We might speculate which of our Founders would have been first to puke his guts out.

We might wonder who represents the worse threat to our system of governance, an ignorant Afghani teenager or a carefully educated rat gnawing at the vitals of democracy.

Seems to me that we strive to make GD a tonier forum, for polite and refined discussion on a higher intellectual plane than how corn-studded is the turd floating in our punchbowl. If you would prefer an ample serving of the punch, please help yourself. Alternatively, a refreshing serving of Shut The Fuck Up…

Well, unless someone in the Obama administration shows any interest in upholding the rule of law, and actually investigating and prosecuting the crimes that are so proudly displayed - I’d say they are the ones who should be pitted.

If it’s any consolation, that would have been hilarious if we weren’t so stupid.

At least maggots are useful for tissue recycling, so that can’t apply to Rove.
