Yes, I know we've done the Pat Buchanan is a fucking racist thing before.

I suspect both believe there isn’t any ideological space between “liberal” and “socialist”.

Ummm, I know that you know about them and I’m not arguing with you about them.

I suspect both believe there isn’t any difference between “liberal” and “socialist,” but the less said of that the better.

Dude, it’s well known that the Liberal Nazi Communists (or is it Communist Nazi Liberals, never can remember) that will run the FEMA death camps hate guns … and they’re French, or eat French fries, or something French.

CMC fnord!
30,000 guillotines? Well that explains why Walmart never has them in stock. :frowning:

Jesus, didn’t you read the rules? The First Rule of the Liberal Socialist Consolidation Party is you don’t talk about the Liberal Socialist Consolidation Party.

SNORKCH! You owe me a new monitor.

No, nothing happened to my old one, I’d just kind of like a new one.

Have you priced natural gas lately?

So much for a sense of humor… Something else that Pat lacks! OMG–I’m on to something.

eleanor, you ignorant slut!” was meant in humor. You know, SNL, Counterpoint, Dan Aykroyd, “Jane, you ignorant slut!”

Any of that ring a bell?

Think of this as a lesson learned. Hopefully you won’t do what I did and whip that reference out at Thanksgiving dinner with your wife’s family.

No, but I went through something just as bad. Shortly after I had met my future wife (I was in my twenties and she was nineteen, we were having dinner with a couple who were friends of mine and their mother. I didn’t know this at the time but my fiance had led a somewhat sheltered life and had somehow come to be of the belief that “pussy” meant “twit” and “twit” meant “pussy.” So we’re talking away over dinner and the subject turns to some dorky character on TV and my darling fiance laughs and blurts out “I just love him, he’s such a pussy!”

You could have heard a pin drop.

I got the ignorant slut bit, I was talking about the defensiveness re LavendarBlue.

Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow.

FEMA has death camps? GREAT! We can pair them up with all the hospital and insurance death panels and save save tons of money! I was concerned that every hospital and insurance company would need its own death camp, and they can’t cooperate on joint death camps because of anti-trust laws. But with a third, neutral, death camp provider, it’s win-win!

Actually, I’m fonder of the “they work for wages American families can’t live on” part. Which implies that either Latinos are some sort of new stage of evolution that doesn’t require food, or that American families are a bunch of spoiled little bitches.

Either way, compelling argument there, Pat.

Close – only off by one letter.

Yeah, that one kind of dropped my jaw too. Like maybe latinos are raiding dumpsters behind restaurants to supplement their meals, which would be beneath ‘real’ Americans.

Or maybe latinos are willing to live at at such a level of squalor and filth and overcrowding that it is beyond conceivable to middle-class Americans. And there may be some element of truth to that for some immigrants. But Pat seems to think they are underbidding Americans on RFPs to take their work, and this is some form of theft, when in fact they are desperately poor people who have to take what they can get. Someone needs to remind Pat of how his Irish ancestors were greeted.

Wait a minute! I thought the liberal line on Mexican immigrants was that the evil conservative cabal wanted them here because they’ll work for wages that Americans won’t. You are the ones saying that!

And now, because a conservative mentions that they will work for less than Americans will work for – something you’ve already acknowledged – he’s suddenly a bigot?

Buchanan said that immigrants from Mexico work for wages that Americans can’t live on. As if Latinos have some ability to make do for less that they use to get one over on real Americans.

In this particular case, not ecessarily a bigot so much as an idiot. He says Mexicans will work for a pay that Americans can’t, rather than American won’t. You can interpret that several ways, none of which reflect very well on Pat, IMO. And perhaps they don’t reflect all that well on Americans either, though Pat is clearly not suggesting that.

I think they do have an ability to get by on less. Asians do too. My guess is that Buchanan thinks the same way I do: that they work long, hard hours, live frugally and several together to cut expenses, and send as much as they can to help their families back home. I think they’re rather admirable myself…apart from the fact that there here illegally.

There’s also the fact that illegal immigrants generally don’t have the same expenses that your typical American citizens do. They aren’t buying new cars and houses and trying to feed and clothe their families, furnish them with health care, and finance college educations for their children.
