I read the sticky about computer problems and I thought it was the adaware that was preventing me from downloading anything but then I’ve had that for months and no problems until recently.
Here’s my dilemma…about 2 days ago, I wanted to download some games on download.com but for some strange reason, everything I tried to download (either by left or right clicking and saying ‘save file as’) gets cut off after only about 20 sec and just says ‘download complete’ even if it’s not complete. I thought it was just the connection and I restarted and reconnected but still the same.
I can surf the net no problem, but when it comes to downloading anything (even tried downloading a download manager program) but that got cut short again. I can’t even look for updates on my AdAware because that gets cut off too…
I really didn’t add anything new to my computer and like I said, I’ve been using AdAware for a while now so I really can’t figure out what the problem is.
If there is any other info you need, I’ll respond ASAP. Thanks for your help!

Wow, first time I stumped the board…is my problem too hard (or stupid) to solve? It’s really making me mad and I want to start downloading stuff again!!
It isn’t a small file and even when I tried to download a PDF. File through my yahoo account, it goes like 10% and automatically stops and says download complete, even though it’s not done. The weird thing is it just all of a sudden started and I’m stumped.
I did clear the cache and tried again but that didn’t work…so weird, I can surf the net no problem but downloading!? Thanks for you help again!
I have this problem on a daily basis but only from my computer at work. In the office we have a proxy that for some reason prevents us from downloading large files so as not to congest the network.
The transfer starts fine but then the speed drops to 0kb/sec and it says ‘Transfer Complete’ in Opera.
Try getting Getright or a similar program which should at least solve the downloading problem (as it seems to know that the file isn’t really all done downloading) though may take some time to get the file (Getright will reattempt everytime it ‘sees’ that the file is not complete).
With browser problems I often recommend tryng a different browser just to help distinguish if the problem is IE vs Windows, but obviously you won’t be able to download a different browser…
Grasping at straws, perhaps uninstalling and reinstalling the last IE update might stir things up a bit.
This board never lets me down!!! Thank you so much Honey!!! That did help in fixing my downloading blues. So…how did that happen to my computer? Did I download or do something bad or something!? Really curious…
As for all you guys, thanks for your suggestions and I took every one of them into consideration (downloaded spybot since I only had adaware) and other stuff too… Thank you sooooomuch!!
