Yes! We Have No Tortillas

Mmmmmmmm…that soup sounds yummy. I’ll have to try it sometime.

We are grilling salmon (steelhead actually) with pesto mayo. The recipe calls for broiling the fish, but we’re going to grill it on a Holland grill. Those grills are the best; no flare ups, nice even cooking. Anyway grill or broil the fish until it flakes easily when tested with a fork. Then combine the basil pesto with the mayo. Then you take toasted bread crumbs and combine them with parmesan cheese. Spoon the mayo over the fillets and sprinkle with the crumb mixture. Then broil or grill the fish a couple of minutes more until the bread crumbs are golden.

Other than that we’re going to play in our friends’ pool and generally have a good time visiting, etc.

The first week on the new job was long; I still feel under-employed because I haven’t actually gotten to DO anything. I’ve attended meetings and read a bunch of reports and spreadsheets which mean nothing to me because no one has had the time to give me the background. I am attempting to gain access and passwords to various database systems and am still generally feeling my way around. Once I really start functioning in my job though, I’m going to be veddy, veddy, veddy busy.

The best part (so far) about working where I work are the CHEAP, but good eats at the dining facility. Lemme see here; one day I ate a cheese burger (with all the fixin’s I wanted) and fries: total cost $1.75. One day I ate a taco salad in the tortilla bowl with all the fixin’s I wanted and refillable pop. Total cost about $3.00. Yesterday I ate kahlua pork, rice, some kind of vegetable side dish, refillable 16 oz soda…$3.00. I can’t bring lunch from home for that cheap!

The weather here is stunning, yet again. Mr. Taters has gone to get our mower out of the shop and I just got back from emissions testing and renewing my license plate tabs.

I think I need to get some grub…I’m feeling a little peckish. All this food discussion has reminded me that I haven’t had a thing but one cup of coffee and I’ve been up since 7:00 a.m.

<screaming tantrum of, let’s say, a very determined five year old>

I WANNA POOL! I wanna go in the water! I don’t want to be too hot, I don’t wanna be all sweaty. I WANNA SWIM IN A POOL! I wanna, I wanna, I wanna. It’s not fair. Everybody’s got a pool but me and I’m too hot and I don’t like it and nobody loves me and you’re all be sorry when I get so hot that I just burn up and disappear!

<sob, sob> I wanna go swimmin’ in the cool water,<sob sob>

Don’t worry Kalley, I don’t have a pool either. I do have a cat though. She’s new. We went to the vet’s Saturday and picked up a cat. Why would we do such a rash and reckless thing? I dunno, it wasn’t my idea. The Little Woman kinda wanted a cat and the boys really wanted a cat. So now we have a cat. She’s a four month old kitten-cat and she’s pretty cute. Her name is Zoe. I wanted to name her “Shabooba” but was voted down. I don’t think that was fair, but there you go.

Crap. I should have saved that for Monday. Now I’ll have to think of something else. Eh, it could happen.

Ha! Caught another one!

Don’t worry Rue, by Monday the aforementioned cat will have shredded something, crapped behind the sofa, or thrown up some unidentifiable mass onto the rug, and you can talk about that.
