Yet another christmas gift thread

OK, so I need some help on what to get my girlfriend for christmas. Here’s a little background info to help out:

We have been together since February of 2002. She is very heavy into theatre (it’s her major,) but I’m iffy about getting something realted to that because she is kinda picky about her theatre. I don’t want to get her a couple soundtracks to broadway shows she hates. Clothes are the old standby, but I’m not entirely sure what she would like. Jeweley would be nice, but again, not sure what she would like (well, she said she doesn’t ever want to get a ring from me unless it has a diamond in it) Also, jeweley can be expensive, and I’m a Poor College Student[sup]TM[/sup]

So…any suggestions?

Well, if she’s a theatre buff then perhaps tickets to a show?

If you’re going for something guaranteed to be a hit, jewelry is almost always well received–and it doesn’t have to be a ring. You don’t say how much you’re able to spend, but you could probably find a nice bracelet or necklace for under $100. Is there a stone you know she likes (besides diamonds, that is)? A lot of the semi-precious ones are quite reasonable but still very pretty.

Well…her birthday is in august…so if august has a nice stone for it then maybe that. I’ll have to go see what birthstone it has.

Many theatrical majors seem to like really funky jewellry. Neat doesn’t always mean expensive - glass beads and silver don’t usually cost much.

Hmmm.

August’s birthstone is traditionally peridot (my grandmother’s birthstone too), which usually ranges from a really pretty pale spring green to dirty olive. It is usually classed in the semi-precious range, and shouldn’t be that pricey.

Of course, I buy peridot beads. About ummm $15 to $20 CDN for a 16 inch strand of two to three millimetre beads, similar for three to four millimetre pebbles. No clue what they run faceted, but they shouldn’t cost that much.

And peridot looks better with silver anyways, IMHO.

If she has longer hair, maybe some barettes or funky hair jewelry. Perhaps books about theater theory or biographies or something else that she likes.
