That first link? I don’t fit into their chart at all, so I guess they aren’t making their bras with anyone like me in mind. I come out the same size using the guidelines in the OP’s second two links - the size I usually wear. But in the last bra thread I bumped into here, Wacoal was recommended, so when I saw them last week at Macy’s, I jumped at the chance to try on. I bought one and I like it a lot, but I am a cup size bigger in that brand than in any other. So I don’t know what’s up with that.
And yeah, I wish they were prettier. Oh well. At least they’re supportive.
look!ninjas, the padded bras are seemingly running a new cycle now; ten years ago, this wasn’t the case. Another GD bra shopping nightmare for those of us who don’t want, or need, padding. Hard to find an apt sling without it.
As for running, or any bouncing activity; I’m 41. At 20, all was fine and good, titwise. Lalala. Now, sans 100 pushups a day, support is a good thing. I’m muscular and small, but feel much better with a sportsbra. If only I could find one that fit well…
You’re not alone. Right now I pretty much have to wear a padded bra (34A) to look normal. I used to be a 36B, but I’ve lost so much weight that the bras I used to wear literally flop around on me (I tried them on, too, I couldn’t believe it.)
I’ve pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I have the build of an elf, and I am trying to get my ass proportionately small to my chest. I don’t really mind being small-chested, though I’d kind of like to be able to go without entirely, if I’m going to be small.
I don’t even know what my cup size would be–I have such small breasts, I don’t even bother buying bras with cups. I usually get crop-tops, and I could probably get away with no bra at all.
All my old bra’s/bras/titholders are a 34 B. I was between an A and B cup. Now I’m a 34C.
If I found out I had breast cancer I would not hesitate to have the doctor’s lop them off. ( But only if I could get a tummy tuck thrown in for free.) I’d shout hooray! I’d probably wear one of my old bra’s on my head for a day as a celebration! Then, I might try jogging or jump roping.
This is crazy! I generally wear a 34dd and apparantly i am a size 0 according to the first website, a 35DD for the second and a 36a for the third. Im going crazy! I’ve had enough
Boobs are a hassle!
Shirley, you ain’t weird at all… I’ve often thought the same thing. I mean, I like my tits well enough, but wouldn’t boo-hoo to much if that weight had to go.
elelle: My favorite sports bra is a Champion too! It was expensive, but worth it. I find they all wind up getting stretched out in the end.
I tried the website links to determine my bra size, and it was rather comical. Enell doesn’t even have me: underbust = 30 inches, bust = 38, which makes me a .5 in their system. Hmph.
The eskimo site says I’m a G cup. They’re making that up! There is no G cup, fer god’s sake! But the last one was the funniest; the Breast Form FAQ says I’m a 38C. It is to laugh! Why is it so hard to reach a consensus on bra sizes?
Men’s underwear is S, M, L, XL-- not fair.
Seriously though, there HAS to be a bra company that makes attractive bras for us uniquely shaped gals. I mean, where do strippers get their bras? They must have a place for them that sells hot-looking bras for women with an 8’ disparity between bust and ribcage size. Right?
Strange, I had almost the exact same measurements (and weight) when I was seventeen and always wore a 38B. If you’re thirty inches in the waist, you’re probably about 33 around the ribs, add five to get a 38 band size, then +1 for a B cup. I’ve never had any problem using this size guide (available on Sears website if anyone wants to check)
I’ve lost weight, and it seems I’m now a 36A. I haven’t been looking recently, but it seems the prettiest bras are usually in 34B. Lucky for me, it’s close enough.
Fredricks of Hollywood, sex lingerie/toys shops, and there are some stores in Las Vegas that sell specifically to the showgirls, but those bras are not made for comfort.
I have found a wonderful bra, the closest thing to a plastic surgery for lift. It is a Champion Everday-Wear Sports Bra with underwire. It doesn’t give you the “uniboob” and gives wonderful support. And an added plus–the cups are made of “moisture wicking” material and REALLY helps during summer months to keep the sweat from pooling.
I’ve given up with them already and I’m only 16. They’re not at all huge, I’d guess at A or B depending on how you work it out because my ribs are only 28". I don’t even know what size mine are because they were unsized samples from my auntie who works in a factory.
I’m not even sure what my bra size is anymore but I’ve gotten pretty good at judging by eye whether or not the evil contraption wil fit. I’ve had great luck at Target, not sure of the brand but they look pretty lacy in small sizes but look kinda grandmotherish in my size. But, what the hell, they work and they’re fairly comfortable. I even bought one in a 38DD for my bloated time and 3 36DDs. Target actually carries DD bras for under 20 bucks each. Goldmine! They even have a decent selection of sports bras (but forget about swimsuits).
I am Treasurer of the Itty Bitty Tittie Committee! I buy bras that look like they were designed to hold raisins, as opposed to melons, or hell I’d even settle for peaches. But I find that if I don’t go with a bra, I get stared at. I dunno why, maybe because they move a little too freely? Headlights showing? Anyhoo, I’m a 36A in most sizes, sometimes I’m a 34. But they match my over all size, so I can’t really complain.
Before February (when I began a weight-loss thing), my bra size was a 40…1 size larger than a DDD/F (that’s a 6" difference between ribcage and bust, and I had 7" ), so I guess I was a 40G! Now, after losing 3.5 dress sizes (with more to come, yay!), I’m officially a 36(possibly 38)F. Kinda cool that once I started losing weight, my boobs haven’t deflated too much (but my ass/hips have gotten smaller, so I’m going towards a true hour-glass instead of a curvy pear ).
But it’s so hard finding the damn things, at least if you want them to look nice! Right now I have to compromise and wear a 38DD instead because that’s all I could find (it’s a tiny bit too small, but liveable). They’re Cacique, carried by Lane Bryant, and they have extremely comfy ones made of soft T-shirt material! I have two, one in a medium lavender and one in icy blue.
