Yet Another Pervert, Yet Another Little Girl

The television news said that she is still in critical condition with EVERY BONE IN HER FACE BROKEN.

Fucker leaves me speechless. What the hell is wrong with people?

That is simply one of the most tragic things I’ve ever read. I would have taken the hammer and smashed him until he had no bones left.

Being a new father, I genuinely fear for my son’s life. Maybe this stuff happened when I was a kid, but not to this extent. If some guy comes to my house looking for trouble, I can guarantee he’ll find it. Someone I trust (aka family) will be with Aaron at all times for at least the few years of his life.

That leads me to another question…

Is this a genuine epidemic, or is it just a lot of high profile cases getting a lot of attenetion and bringing the problem into focus? When I was a kid, we rarely if ever heard about this kidnapping and rape stuff.

Airman-I think it had a lot to do with the whole stigma and shame of it all. People hid it-they refused to even think about it.

I’ve read that sex offenders were quite common in history. Read Inventing the Victorians-there’s a chapter devoted to a particularly sick molester guy.

I’m angered and deeply saddened by this. When I have kids I will defend them with my life. If anything like this ever happened to them I would personally hunt the pervert down and make an example of them. This shit has got to stop…

I have to go collect a child from camp soon, but I’ll pull the cites when I get back. In the US, child abductions as a whole are dropping (the VAST majority of these are parental in origin) as are the number of cases in which children are abducted are murdered.

When I was a child, we didn’t live in a “global village”. While child abductions and murders got media coverage at a local level, they would not have been reported overseas - let alone with the kind of media intensity we see now.

What saddened me when reading the reports the other day was just how many children are currently missing under circumstances which suggest they will not be found alive. The phenomenon might not be new, but our awareness of it has been considerably heightened by the media coverage of it in recent times.

Sadly, this stuff has been going on for a while. Albert Fish comes to mind. Some times I want unlimited power to exterminate members of our species.

That is sickening, but as Red_dragon60 said it’s always been there but I think IMHO that the media is really focusing on these cases a lot more than they used to… But it is still absolutely demented, I can’t find the right words to express the anger and hatred I feel towards people like that.

He blacked out… his whole defense now is gonna rest on insanity… arghhhhh

Insanity is a defense of last resort. It almost never works. It’s the legal equivalant of the ‘Hail Mary’.

I tend to agree with reprise – I wouldn’t have known about this crime without the Internet. Might, just might, have heard about the two girls here (had it been elsewhere) as that was a juicy one for the media – 12 whole days of reporting and lots of front pages. They got real value out of that one…

We don’t know yet how the two girls here died or whether they were sexually assaulted before they died (it’ll become known if/when a trial unfolds) – the only reason we know now what this guy did in SLC is because he was caught in the act: A hammer, a knife…they’re just degree’s of vivid imagery.

Fact is, there’s a lot of seriously fucked up people out there, presumably there always has been.

As societies, I guess we now take a lot of these people out (and into some kind of detention) before they commit serious crimes. I just don’t know how we counter the unpredictable guys that just snap or who suddenly move from thought to action (I know this guy was arrested on suspicion of rape in '94).

Just don’t know how you see that coming, or whether there are wider, social reasons that we can address, that cause or contribute to them suddenly snapping or moving from thoughts to action ?

  • One thing that struck me is that in both the case here and this one in SLC, those committing the crimes (not yet charged here, though) knew the children, their families, their names and what they liked and did, who their friends were…they didn’t pick up strangers who had no life context. It’s just nuts and so desperately sad.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has a statistics and commonly asked questions page with excellent links to factsheets, statistics, and reports (some files are in .pdf format).

Those more interested in what drives people to commit crimes the rest of us find incomprehensible might find the links on The Criminal Mind page at The Crime Library more useful (the articles on female criminals are especially interesting, if somewhat disturbing).

We seem to have some low-lifes of our own to deal with here at the moment. :frowning:

Here is a photo of the monster.

Sadly, just because someone is a family member doesn’t mean that he isn’t a molester.

If I were you, I’d only let women relatives watch Aaron; statistically the chances of female molestation are much reduced.

Actually, that’s not entirely true either, unfortunately. Statistics regarding female molestation are somewhat unreliable, as it tends to be massively underreported. I believe there’s been a number of threads around here (at least one GD thread) discussing this.

It lies in the double standard thingy - an older man ‘initiating’ a young girl is reviled as a pedophile and she is either a victim or a slut, and an older woman ‘initiating’ a young boy is seen as doing him a favour, and he is supposed to be proud of it.

And I sincerely hope the rest of the implication there is tongue-in-cheek, gobear. I refuse to accept that men are more likely to molest children simply due to gender.

Granted, most I have encountered, through Real Life or research, have been male. However, all research I have read says that women are offenders as well - just vanishingly rarely caught at it. If you really wanna play with the poor New Daddy’s head, go all the way - the kid can’t be left with ANYBODY other than Mom 'n Dad, and in fact, can’t be left alone with them either, due to Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy.

If you follow the links on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children page I linked to above, there’s a US report in .pdf format entitled “Homicides of Children and Youth”. As the report shows, age and gender greatly influence the type of homicide perpetrated against children, the motivation of the perpetrator and also who is most likely to commit it.

While the “convential wisdom” that children are less at risk of harm from women than from men is true overall, it’s by no means true for every age group of child in every situation. Until age 5 children are most at risk of harm from their own parents and caregivers.

The DOJ document is NOT copyrighted, just in case anyone wishes to post lengthy extracts from it (in fact, at the end of the article there’s a notice encouraging professionals to share the information which asks only that the source and the aithors be acknowledged). The reason I haven’t posted extracts is that each section needs to be read in relation to the whole report, as the isolated statistics can be very misleading.

At least there’s some good news in from California.

die, fucker, die.

I have a 10 year old daughter, and if anyone even tried to hurt her like that, either I would be buried, or the fucking low life shithead’s body would be scattered so far and wide that nobody would find him.

Stuff like this makes me appreciate how much restraint most cops have. If I came across some lowlife raping and beating an 11 yo with a hammer, I’d take said hammer and pound the guy into a thin gruel.

In the 2nd photo Diane linked to, the guy appears to have bruises all over his face. Perhaps he had an “accident” down at the station or on the way there.

From the way Sgt. Salazar was talking about him in the OP article, I wouldn’t be surprised.

That is what a night stick is for, no sense messing up the fingerprints on the evidence.

That song from Office Space is in my head now, the one that played during the printer smashing scene, “die motherfucker, die motherfucker”

It could be a combination of a couple things, the little girl fighting back, the police dogs, or the cops. It’s just too bad he only receives a few scratches and bruises instead of like his little victim who received every bone in her face broken.

God, sometimes I hate people.
