Diefenbaker, now that’s a man’s dog!*

yes, he self refers to himself as a wolf. Just ask him. Don’t ask him who the greatest baseball player ever was, tho, unless you want a long argument.

Eww, that one chick had a houseful of rats. Nasty!
If its a little Marine one its a Chee huraw huraw.
So, you new in town?
1st Kid: Boy, those chihuahuas sure must be smart dogs!
2nd Kid: Why?
1st Kid: 'Cos my Dad says the Mexicans use them to make burritos!
I doubt that Chihuahuas were bred as anything but verminators and psycho lapdogs because half the badass Mexican fellows I see are driving around with one perched on his potbelly so it can see out of the truck. I would not insult those guys’ choice of dogs.
Anyway, I rather like the nasty little things, but I have a couple terriers and have a taste for small, horrid dogs.
Years ago, I ran into a pack of rough looking chihuahuas. Awkward and slow, they took one deliberate, shaky step at a time. What were they barking? Was it, “BRAINS!”?
Needless to say, I got the hell out of there. Haven’t been back since 2003.
Couldn’t find the cite, but a couple of years ago there was a piece in the newspaper about a great horned owl which got into a house. Animal Control safely removed it. There was a sentence in which it was reported that two small dogs were trapped in the room with it. They were “cowering in a corner, (I bet!) but unharmed.”
Me. I know those dogs can be good companions for some people, but every damn one of them I’ve ever encountered has been annoying. I use to have a client that would come in to have her tarot cards read for her; then, have a set of cards read for her very spoiled little pet. When the little rat dog died, I bit my tongue and told her all about peace it found in the doggie afterlife and how she would see it again some day (no doubt it could get some break time between training hell hounds to see her).
We have a great Chihuahueña, doesn’t yap, isn’t the least annoying. Small dogs, big dogs, they’re all dogs. We also have a well mannered pug and 2 Malinois that can be very annoying at times. When they yap the whole neighborhood knows it. My daughter has a Boston terrier that rarely barks. Size doesn’t matter.
And Brain Glutton, I think your joke sucks.
Yet another chihuahua anecdote:
I hadn’t been counting on getting another dog, as i already own two terrier mixes (one part chihuahua, the other some sort of albino rat terrier thing, not sure.) Around New Year, a relative who was renting a room in a house somewhere told me about his landlady’s neglected Chihuahua, who was living in the backyard and was constantly mauled by the children and seldom fed so as to avoid cleaning dog poop. I think she may have been collateral damage from the “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” fad of a couple years ago. My mother, being the soft-hearted person she was, offered to take her in, and the so-called owners were happy to get rid of her. My daughter and I fell in love with the skinny little dog immediately. She seldom barked, and was afraid of most people, particularly adult women (seems the “lady” of the house had taken to chasing her with a broom.) Over the past few months, this little dog has put on weight, and has begun barking, but not as much as other dogs. She’s just the sweetest, gentlest little thing. I rarely take her on walks, because she’s still afraid of most dogs and people. She loves kids, in spite of how she was treated in the past, and the toddlers in my family adore her right back. Also, she will happily sit on the lap of anyone willing to pick her up, and remains there quietly. I realize she may be the exception, and that other dogs of that breed may be disgusting little beasts, but this is how I see her.
“started growing” = Hulk-huahua
I’ve had all sortsw of animals. For dogs, I’ve had mutts, pit bulls, and now a 2 Labradors, Chihuauha (however the hell you spell it). To get to her, you would need to get past the Labs AND the cats - they’re all buddies.
tomndebb, thanks so much for the notes about the age of the thread. I hope this will become SOP for the older threads.
