I want to know if you are still happy with your Neuros. Which one do you have? Is it a USB 1.1 or USB 2.0? What size is your backpack and did you get the bundle? Most importantly, have you had any issues with the unit?
I ask because I bought a Neuros. I followed a link you put in thread a long time ago and read up on the Neuros. I thought, how freakin’ cool? Plays OGG files, records and can broadcast to FM? Sign me up. Unfortunatly, for me the actual reality has been nothing like perceived reality of the hype. Yesterday, I returned my second brand new unit in 2 weeks.
I bought the 40GB unit from an authorized reseller and I was stoked when it arrived. I charged it and then loaded my music. It played about 6 or 7 songs (total) before it would lock up and not let me do anything. The second unit arrived and it was worse than the first one. It was NEVER recognized by my PC if the player was attached to the backpack. If the backpack alone was attached, my computer could recognize it and I could transfer music to the unit. The problem was that the player couldn’t see any files on the backpack either. The forums at the Neuros site were little help for me. I got one person who said I should bend the connector pins on the player so they get a better connection with the backpack and I thought WTF? I should possibly violate the warrenty to fix a problem that 1) shouldn’t exist or 2) been caught in their supposed improved QA process?
I’ve read about people that have experienced no problems for a while, and then notice issues. The most common issues seem to be with re-charging the unit or issues with corruption of the files on the backpack. I would like to know if you have experienced any problems in the time you have owned your Neuros (I don’t know how long that is). I want to know because I don’t know how many more chances I want to give them and right now I am leaning to getting my money back if the third unit gives me any problems out of the box. That isn’t unreasonable is it? I mean expecting something to work as advertised out of the box isn’t insane on my part, is it?
