I love his malapropisms, and I used to love him catching for those famous “Yankees” and being a teammate of Maris, Mantle and Ford.
I was just so happy to have read a short interview with him in a sports magazine (sorry, don’t remember which one) and loved reading his comments about his former teammates!
One “Yogi-Ism” I remember is: “This is the earliest I’ve ever been late!”
I looked for this one on google, but unless I missed it, it was not attributed to him? Anyone know?
On another thread I wrote “Not Much On Baseball But…”, which may lead one to think, “WTF? How can he ask that if he says he doesn’t know the game!!!”
“When in Rome…”
So… I paid attention to this game and learned to keep track of stats and trading cards. My personal favorites (in addition to Yogi) were: Warren Spahn and Sandy Koufax.
Hey! Don’t give me any shit, okay?
The German Boy did the best he could to “fit in” in those days!
However…
The “burning question” remains:" Who came first, Bear or Berra?"
I suspect I know the answer, but I just wanted y’all to know that in the last 49 years, I have done my best to always wonder.
Go ahead, “bust” my bubble, because everyone knows that… “If you ask me anything I don’t know, I’m not going to answer.” - Yogi
Thanks
