Because your experience trumps everyone else’s? I figured as much.
Either agree with curlcoat or shut up, huh? Why am I not surprised?

Not looking for a gotcha. Just fascinated.
You have certain characteristics you attribute to “adulthood.” You preemptively plan to avoid someone who does not meet those characteristics. That’s all I meant by steering clear of those with other beliefs.
That you preemptively insult them is also interesting. You obviously have some strong opinions on the matter. I’m wondering if this wouldn’t make a decent GD thread.
Actually I am going to get a dog now. I’ll name her miss elizabeth, and do terrible things to it. Like only playing with it up to an hour a day and feeding it at irregular but within an hour of its normal feeding time. And letting it freeze to death in the cold LA weather. Cause I’m an animal baby, I’m terrifying and abusive! Oooooooo!
I just have to say that I miss being the target of a Pit. Its so much fun here, being able to say whatever you want. If I see a dog on the way home, I’ll swerve to run it over. Cause otherwise, I might end up adopting it and putting it through hell since my ownership is abusive.
No idea why you would think that I am incapable of managing the responsibilities of an adult. For that matter, I don’t know why you think that of Yogsothoth but as I said I don’t think I’ve noticed him before.
Oh! I thought he said he did. My bad.
Yeah, it seems like there are many here that are having trouble with that basic part of the OP.
No, just those of you that my post applies to, the ones who are spouting really incorrect stuff as “facts”. If you are feeling defensive, you might want to double check what you’ve said. (I have no idea what that may have been - there were so many bad advice posts that I didn’t keep track of who the posters were.)
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that you make up something and say I said it, when it is quite clear I didn’t say any such thing.
Oh squiggly line, if only I could read you.
By the way, Chinese people eat dogs, so once we get this dog, its not going back out of our house except in a box or flushed as human waste. Yes, it has that to look forward to
No, I have strong opinions on the specific people I’m talking about. Because they are, by and large, sad motherfuckers.
As for Yogsooth - my insult to him was just a fun cheap shot based mostly on his string of idiocy in this thread. Don’t really care how he lives his life at all.
Congratulations on noticing that I have a consistently held view! Good work, maybe there’s hope for you yet.
Your immaturity on the dog front, is so, so directly related to the immaturity that living with Mommy and Daddy into your thirties produces. Of course you’d notice that if you weren’t so deluded with your rationalizations.
Of course they love having you around! What’s not to love, you’re a real treat!
Your behaviour in this thread is totally making all my points for me, good on you! Keep up the good work!
Fair 'nuff, I guess. I never could get the hang of this Pit stuff.
You’re worse than Hitler! On a scale of Gandhi to Hitler, you’re like ten Hitlers!
Glad I could keep you coming back for more. Any other hangups you have? Maybe don’t like Jews? I could be a Jew, I love money after all and silly hats.
By the way, I don’t have an immaturity on the dog front. If anything, the dog’s immature. Why should I have to be the mature one? Keep a dog a few years and it’ll be older than me, technically. The dog should be mature, not me.
And again, as I’ve explained, I only live with my parents for the sex, something you should know a lot about having been forcefully and then willingly molested by your daddy over and over again, and now you’re doing the molesting. Does your fetish know no bounds? :dubious:
We DID take her to a groomers, and she still wouldn’t let them. We’re currently trying to find a groomer that works with difficult dogs, or seeing if the vet can do it. She is trimmed mostly, and bathed regularly, but she’s gotten very difficult about doing her eyes and her muzzle.* (Like I said, the only person who she’ll let bath her is my mother) She USED to be okay with it.
No, you didn’t have to blow the plastic tube directly at her head to hurt her ears. The fact that she freaked out should be enough to tell you that it bothered her. Dogs have more sensitive hearing the humans. Your fucking ignorance about animals is just astounding.
And I’m a she.
*Anyone know WHY she might be doing this? Seriously, it’s only been in the last year or so that’s she’s gotten this way. She’s always been stubborn, but in the last year or so, she’s gotten insane.
Just, yanno, sayin’.
Uh, the definition of trolling, even in the pit, is lying in order to piss someone off. How in the world do you not get that you were trolling, Yogosoth?

This +100. People who call others fucking ignorant about something and in the same post show their own ignorance on the same subject are a special breed.
Well, maybe. But I imagine what my brother would have been saying and doing were we in the same situation, still living with our parents, and everything. He’s 9 years older than I am and would take a bullet for me.
Yet he wouldn’t sit back passively while I got a dog under these circumstances. He wouldn’t enable me or humor me or act like I should get whatever I want. He wouldn’t act like there was absolutely nothing he could do.
Nor would I do the same if situations were reversed.
Nor would my parents if it were their house. Nor, honestly, would anyone in my family, living with me or not, who had seen what happened in the past and could predict the outcome here.
I think that’s what I’m finding so puzzling. Why is everyone in this scenario so incredibly helpless when faced with a young woman’s (probably transient) desire for a dog she is not equipped to care for? It’s just so incredibly passive.
It sounds like 3 of the 4 people think there’s going to be a bad outcome, yet… well, they just have to be resigned to it. But why?
Is it truly so hard to say, “Hey, sis, you aren’t in a position to be a good dog owner”? Is it that difficult to put the wellbeing of a living, breathing thing above the passing fancy of someone who isn’t prepared?
We had outside dogs when I was a kid, but no one in my immediate family would hesitate now to say that you don’t get a pet on a whim and that one of the sad things about being an adult is you have to have some self-control and self-awareness.
I mean, if we were dealing with a six year old who was dying of cancer, I could understand this weird deference. But as it is? No.
Yeah, I get that. It’s alien to me too. But different families, different dynamics, different backgrounds . . .
Odd and perplexing, yes. But really not deserving of the vitriol thrown in this thread.
I read the initial thread, and YS seemed to be trying to stoke the flames. We could get into a chicken egg argument, which honestly doesn’t interest me, but his behavior from the first post was odd, and it’s continued to get odder.
Perhaps undeserved, but understandable. It’s like a perfect storm of ridiculousness. “I’m 32 and I live at home with my parents who are respectively scared of and allergic to dogs but my 23 year old sister who also has no plans to live elsewhere wants to get a dog so that she’ll stop partying too much. We certainly can’t tell her no, but I’m not gonna help with the dog because it might cut into my six hour a day WoW habit. What kind of dog doesn’t mind mostly living outside and being ignored?” What the fuck did he expect?
Also agreed.
Probably not the shitstorm he’s received. And you’re right, he should have.
At least I’m TRYING to figure out how to deal with my dog, rather than just saying, “well, it’s typical”. I don’t think it’s typical that she should do this.
Like I said, she only started acting like this in the last year or so. Does anyone have any ideas?
