That’s usually the only time I look at someone else’s post count as well. I’m much more forgiving with someone who hasn’t been here much than with someone who (IMHO) ought to know better.
Conversely, I am occasionally surprised when a newbie (especially one under 50 posts) posts something which demonstrates profound insight or wit; this usually means that this is someone to watch for in the future.
I’ve been registered here since about February 2001 (I think – we’ll know for sure as soon as this is posted). I’ve only just broken 300 posts. Yeah, I’m still pretty much a lurker.
The only other message board I belong to and actively participate in is one I’ve been a member since June 1998. That message board has had a couple breakdowns and restarts as well as one temporary message board. In it’s current form, I have just under 3,700 posts. If I include the post counts from the earlier versions of that place, I probably have about 4,200 posts total.
